Amusing satire on French attitudes towards Muslim dress. Apologies in advance if I am GOABing this - I don't read these forums enough at the moment to keep track of all the latest threads. "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."

I know a few people who work in Arab countries where women wear the burqa, niqab etc and they tell me that there are some amazing lingerie shops where you often see women buying outragous sets to be worn underneath and it's a not very well known fact that ladies really 'dress up' underneath.
And this week Barbie released 3 different versions of a darker skinned black haired 'burka Barbie' wearing traditional Muslim dress. No idea what she's wearing underneath tho! Pro submissive & switch with great dungeon & LOTS of toys!

Check out arabsexweb.com for some naughty hijab wearing polanesian women
i'm sure i'm going to offend by saying this (and i'm in no way intending to belittle the muslim faith or the plight of women's lib groups) but i find the notion of only your husband, your master getting to see you for your whole life and portraying a picture of modesty and virtue only to be wearing kinky underwear underneath and to be totally filthy once at home to be quite delicious and would totally give this a go as some role play!Edited 21 Dec 09, 8:54 AM by Thumbell

Reminds me of a pagan lass I used to go out with. She and her mates would perform outdoor rituals "skyclad under their robes". The concept always made me smile. |

I completely adore the outfits - I think they are sexy and mysterious. I love the traditional ones, stunning. |

There is more cosmetic surgery for beauty reasons in Iran than most other countries apparently. Presumably it's not contradicatory - women are covered because they are the property or men and when they are with men they are sex toys. That's all pretty consistent to me and politically and morally objectionable. (You're not going out dressed like that for men to ogle over because I'm so insecure in my hold over you that I think I'll lose you and I have pathological jealous issues, but once you're a home you'll dress very sexily just to please me) Whereas the more religiously pure nun or lesbian always in boots and trousers/ short hair would be in effect covered always as a religious/political statement or at the other extreme I always like to feel I'm dressed reasonably sexily whoever I'm with and even if I'm home alone. |

Even 5 minutes from my house I am often in short skirt with the 32 DDs on display and more women are covered than not. I'm not going to change how I dress because of their religious views but I won't be revealingly dressed at mass tomorrow. Thus locally I can look very uncovered but simply because others choose to cover themselves. Mind you most of those covered are about 15 stone as you can see through the way the robe is pushed outwards so it's not in most cases covering gorgeous slim curvy eastern girl in exotic lingerie.
Yes, dungarees and long robes too can protect you from being seen as a sex object but if you are not allowed by law to drive or work and only get fed because you keep your husband happy, dress sexily for him etc then I don't think the good deal those in countries like that or cultures like that get is very good at all. Mind you perhaps the obesity of some in a way is a cloak they put on to hide their sexuality to no one will come on to them. I don't know. I'll get back to something simpler because I get squashed under the excess flesh of the many IC fat acceptance society members.

Yes, although it cuts boths ways. I've heard Muslim women say they like to cover up so they feel free from the pressure to be sexy or judged by looks. I've heard many western women get a lot of unwanted attention in Muslim countries when they are not fully covered up.

I am with you on this one. There is something very sexy about being subject to that level of control. Especially with the possibility of a very contradictory attire underneath that is only available to Master/Chaperone

Anthropologically speaking, the understanding of the range of sizes at which a woman might be considered 'gorgeous' varies from culture to culture.

In terms of pre-1990s psychology you are right about some of the reasons behind why some women wear their fat like a 'cloak'. However this is only one way of looking at it and doesn't apply to all fat women. It may be a result of psychology's tendency to project conditions transgressing the'norm' into people's bodies as an expression of abjection. That is, 'if I describe that 'other' thing as abnormal, unhealthy and mentally unstable, it will help to define this (ie one's own condition) as not being so'. In other words, you are assuming that fat women and women wearing dungarees do not want to be seen as and are not seen as sex objects.

The lesbian always in boots, trousers and short hair may not be making a political statement but dressing how she feels sexy within her own community. It's more likely that you are making a political assumption.
Obviously I am not preaching to the converted but if anyone genuinely wants to challenge assumptions like this a good start would be by reading 'The Beauty Myth' by Naomi Wolf. I'll do anything for a lollipop...

Thanks for drawing attention to the article, doulos.

Indeed
On the wider topic of burqa fetishism, I'm sure that it will continue to become established as an item of fetish clothing in the fantasies of males in Britain. Some of the young asian women near where I live look fantastic in their improvised combinations of traditional Muslim apparel and more contemporary western fashion. And boys will be boys ...

I own a range of traditional muslim dress
I see nothing wrong in wearing them.
When i worked out in the middle east i'd often go out with just my abayaah on and nothing underneath or just my next pyjama's
I'd even wear my slutty western dress for date's i had with my arab young boy i dated at the time knowing he wouldn't be able to see it. |
