Just returned from a work trip to Dubai. It was my first time out there. Fantastic visit, such a very different world. Too tired to write about it now, but there are pictures here for anyone interested.
Had to wait until I got back to access flick,... it's banned out there!
Race horses are a serious big money business out there.
The Burj is out of this world, almost literally out of this world!
Old town Bur Dubai is a lot of fun.

The Burj had me awe struck. It's like something out of a sci-fi movie. 800m high, that's a distance more in keeping with road sign distances than building heights. But it is more than just the sheer height of the thing. There is something quite overwhelming with the style of the piece too. The elevators move along at 22km/h. 160 floors. Th air conditioning system has to remove the equivalent of an Olympic size swimming pool of condensate every day. If you stacked 3 Gherkins (the London building not the pickled vegetable) on top of each other it still would not be as tall as the Burj! The Equine Hospital in it's own way was equally amazing. The operating theatre looked better equipped than my local hospital. It will be interesting to see what happens to Dubai over the next few months though!
