Think about your layered foods, like lasagna. Layers of cheese, sauce, filling, spinach, noodles, in various orders and combinations. Mine never stays together, and I never use all the noodles. It's sloppy. I always add too much filling. Why must I overdue these things? I must learn to layer!

Get a shallow baking dish so you can't go over a certain height *cheeky and smug grin* I know it isn't that simple though, I'm the same with bread and butter pudding. Threads are like skirts. They should be long enough to cover the interesting details, but short enough to keep things interesting.

When I make my lasagne I make bolgnese sauce the day before then I use this cold for layering, I make the cheese sauce but I let it cool slightly before adding it in layers.
I just have to perfect the art of serving it now .. so it doesn't look like a train smash

Aye, you say that, but when you pour in half your sauce in the first go, it kinda doesn't leave room for much else! It ain't the height that's the problem, it's the number of layers that hold stuff together. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
