My Mum and my Aunt are heading over to Australia for three weeks at Christmas to see family, so I thought for a Christmas present I'd make them a travel journal that they could take with them and stick stuff in, write in, put pictures in etc as they go along.
It's going to be a leather bound book (I'll do that myself) but I'm looking for inspiration for things I'm going to print on a few of the pages.
Every now and again I'm going to put a cute little animal picture of something of an animal native to Oz, but I also want to include a couple of quotes, some trivia that sort of thing as well as useful stuff. I plan on putting a map in there, but what else would be useful to a traveler?

They're staying with family in Queensland somewhere. I think I might have a lonely planet guide that has an Australia section so I might raid that!

That's a really lovely idea! I may have to borrow that at some point. One of God's own prototypes, a high powered mutant of some kind, never considered for mass production. Too weird to live, too rare to die.

Be warned, bookbinding seems to be an addictive and expensive hobby!

Essential phone numbers? International codes, directory enquiries, family and friends, airports, emergency services. Somewhere to keep photocopies of their travel documents? http://www.avaaz.org/en/ |
