Well, for my old friends here, I've recently wrapped the film I've been working on all Summer. Haven't had any time to have a personal life for 6 months! But it's satisfying to get to this stage.
Oh and I've also worked out that IC defaults to inability to reply to these weblogs and changed my settings. Now I know why I only got memos on previous reports. ![]()
Lots more work to do for post production, but now that I'm not organising shoots for a while, I have a chance to remember that I have a life!
Ok so I'm starting meetings with the actors for the next project next week...
But I've started coming out a little again. I went to last munch. Got a day out tomorrow with someone nice. I've only met him once so no predictions as yet. We have a few interests in common, a few that are different. Who knows. But at least I'm leaving the house for something other than a shoot or gathering materials for costumes and props. Even had a drink twice last month!
Can't afford to pop down to London like I used to so still not able to go back to LAM for a while, but that too can change. Especially when this film comes out. It doesn't have to make a big profit to make a difference, a little one will do. But first we have to get through edit. I've sent a sequence for the first trailer to the editor, so hopefully that will be out before too long.
There's a lot of day to night conversion and mistakes that come from a load of amateurs filming in public places, so it could take time. Ironically, the day to night could make it easier to erase bystanders that charge into shot.
In case it's not clear, I'm not talking about the goblin film yet, this is a RomComZom, Romantic Comedy with zombies. It's fun, and it's coming out surprisingly good and with a kick-ass soundtrack. There is a chance that it could finance the goblin film, but we'll see. If we cover our out of pocket expenses, it's still a win.
Meanwhile, the new one deals with vampires. I seem to have a knack for finding new approaches to such subjects. My occult background features in. But filmmaking is definitely addictive. Who knows, maybe I can be the next Ed Wood.

Yeah, life is good. I enjoy this far too much, even the hard parts. No re-makes for me, I have too many ideas of my own and getting rights is too much hassle.
Although if I end up getting compared to Hammer Horror by the time the the third in the series comes out, I'll be well chuffed. Now, to design a rubber monster suit for something *really* tacky along the lines of Creature of the Black Lagoon... |
