I've been single longer than I care to remember but, actually, I quite enjoy it. Of course there are inevitable intervals when one lies back to dream of having a loving partner ... as the icy fingers of loneliness play along the vertebraes of one's spine like a ghastly piano. I soon snap out of it though and continue relishing my independence and freedom! It doesn't make me less of a man just because I don't have a woman in my life but it has made my personality grow thorns. The longer one stays single, the more protective oneself appears to get if desperation isn't an issue.

I once had a friend say to me that "I set my sights too high" when the relationship topic crops up ... but I'd rather set them too high than too low. At least if I miss, then that projectile will stay longer in space and enjoy the flight of more freedom
