Today I learned a valuable lesson.
It is something I should have learned
long ago
had my love of words not left me fearing
that I was yelling into an empty warehouse.
.
Instead, the warehouse has become my prison.
.
Inside it, I can yell to my heart's content
knowing that the only voice I will hear
will be my own, echoing in the darkness.
.
But I will hurt nobody with my words
nor will it matter if I say anything
or nothing
for nobody will take any heed.

“I have nothing to say
And I am saying it
And that is poetry”

I must admit I don't really understand this. I mean don't we all need to communicate? Communicate with others, not simply with ourselves? My object all sublime... |

John Cage put it far more eloquently and with greater economy of words than I can ever seem to manage: when there is nothing to say, just say nothing. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars" |
