I sit here a little bit troubled.

So far I have had the doctor's torch down my throat, had blood tests and chest x-rays, have had a camera up my nose and down my throat, have a CT scan next week, another appointment with a consultant the week after.

Considering I hate doctors and hospitals, I am doing quite well.

The Problem?

My doctor thinks I MAY have throat cancer. Personally, I hope she is wrong. most of my family die from heart failure, and I really dont want to be a trend setter.

When I spoke to the doctor I told her that if she was going to say I had six months left, I wanted the next six Decembers. she said I wasnt taking the matter seriously...

I dont know what to think or to expect.

It may all be something small and insignificant...at least I bloody well hope so..lol...but at this moment in time, I dont know what to think.

Whatever the problem is, I refuse to give in to it. I just wish someone wouild tell me something concrete.

If there was nothing wrong, why put me forward for an emergency referal? if the Consultant didnt see anything wrong when he had the camera down my throat, why the CT scans?

Why do doctors insist on keeping patients in the dark? Do they get a sadistic pleasure later on when they "reveal all" ?

Time will. I guess, answer the problems. till then, I am a little troubled..,.to say the least.

Did you directly ask them what they had found and what they suspected? If not, then maybe you should.

It is good that they are doing all the tests. If they had done this with my dad, he may still be here now. They just kept fobbing him off. They eventually put the camera down, but it was too late.

I hope that they don't find any cancer or anything else bad, but if they do, the earlier they find it and treat it, the better.

That's a scary position to be in, not knowing for sure and waiting for test results, etc.

But it seems the docs are being thorough and checking everything out to make sure one way or the other. They probably don't want to say too much too soon in case they are wrong, but yes, I think you should ask them all the questions you can think of.

And you can always Google these things and get all the info on any ailment.

So will have fingers crossed for you that it's not the worst of the options. You have to try and keep positive. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear of this. I know how painful it can be waiting for Doctors to give answers. This was due to a close relative not myself. I wish you all the best and if you need anything just memo.

Sometimes the internet has it's downfalls and this is one of them ... too much (often conflicting) information available. Better to do what you are doing and seeking personalised medical help which takes into account the whole picture, not just the symptoms, otherwise you will just baffle yourself with science and worry yourself rigid.
