There was an interesting item on Radio 2 'Jeremy Vine Propaganda Show' Thursday 26-11-09 http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jeremy-vine/ . The item was about provoking Google to censor the internet whilst the BBC pretending to be balanced and neutral. In this item they was constantly making fake and unsupported claims that adult interest and 'violent porn' is a major problem as though we are totally unregulated. What cheek after all that we have done and rights given up in order to avoid these accusations the powers that be still want more.

The Bush admin forced their regulations on us internationally, the UK government have set limits on what we can view, we have had our Kink Fest activity limited and video recorded by the cyborg security. The internet has parental filter setting, YouTube removed a lot of videos. But with all this and more they are still using the same claims against us to limit more of our freedoms.

This propaganda show was not just having a pop at the adult interests but also at 99% of the scientist who are trying hard in informing people that climate change is a natural phenomena and is not as a result of increase of CO2. Last week over 1000 files and documents was released onto the net proving that a group of corrupt scientist massaged the data to remove the medieval warm period and presented this hockey stick graph to Al gore.

This probably needs a separate thread, but read what the world's scientific bodies are saying. The leading scientific bodies (including the International Panel on Climate Change, and the national science academies of all the G8 countries as well as Brazil, Russia and China) all seem to be lined up on one side. The scientific consensus is, and has been for a long time, that the earth's temperature is rising faster than at any time in the last 2000 years, that human activities, in particular greenhouse gases, are the main cause, and that we need to do something about it.

But all the research is based on discredited data that has been selectively sampled and manipulated to 'prove' global warming

All data? Really, you are an authority on this?

Global warming is a myth created by greedy scientists and corrupt governmentds wanting to tax the population more in the name of 'saving the planet'.

They conveniently forget the natural cycle of the worlds weather...how, in medieval times, the temperature was rising at a similar rate to today; and the mini ice-age of the 18th and 19th century. And they never mention how the hole in the ozone layer is smaller now than it has been in years and it is getting smaller.

Maybe, but let me guess - you use a car a lot?

I know there is a lot of politics involved, on both sides, but it always amazes me how much people will choose a view point that falls to aspects their personal comfort, and not on looking at the situation to any degree of complexity.

I think you will find the ozone hole is largely related to CFC use, and that is one thing that was brought under control in the late 1980s.

This thread doesn't seem to have much to do with BDSM Activism, but I may as well take the chance to respond to it before it gets moved somewhere else....

It always amazes me that in a society where we seem to be obsessed with doing everything to protect children we are so reluctant to face up to the overwhelming (and it is overwhelming) evidence of the damage we are doing and the effect that is likely to have on our children in their lifetime.

Of course scientists haven't "forgotten" about the cycles of temperatures that happen naturally. The current upward trend simply doesn't fit in to any sort of known natural cycles. This idea is repeatedly brought out by 'sceptics' as if it is some brilliant new observation despite having been shown to have been taken into account by scientists over and over again.

Then there is the insistence that man is too insignificant to have any real impact on nature. Actually it doesn't take a lot of thinking about it to realise that we have had a huge impact. The volumes of oil and coal burned in the last 200 years have been massive - a fair percentage of known reserves. That all represents carbon taken out of the atmosphere millions of years ago when we know the world was much warmer, and now being released back into the atmosphere. It is bound to have an effect. It is also not very difficult to see how big an impact we have had on forest cover, and how quickly we could wipe out almost entire species, such as buffalo in America, even before we had 21st century technology and population levels.

You really have to be wilfully blind and selfish to not accept climate change, and the fact that man has a huge part to play in it. The only valid argument is what we should do about it.

Please spend at least an hour finding out who the Royal Society are, and what they and the IPCC have been saying about climate change for the last few years.

The Little Ice Age started a lot earlier than the 18th century btw, and scientists have been studying and reporting extensively on both that and things like the Medieval Warm Period. Both the LIA and MWP have been mentioned in every IPCC report (going back to 1990).

Some men prefer to love other men. Equally, some women prefer to love other women. There is a word that describes this kind of behavior. Love.

I love the global warming debate. We should take this to off-topic though before the BYSO gets annoyed with us.

The politics of global warming has more to do with dwindling oil supplies than anything else. The science of global warming is just guess work. This planet has been around for millions of years (sorry if that offends creationalists, you are entitled to disagree with me) and we have accurate data for a few hundred.

What was the on-topic subject? Censorship?

I don't know what's right and what's real any more
