Hi all, I'm hoping to draw on the collective knowledge of IC and help me decide what to buy. I've got s basic set of restraints, but some of girls I play with have managed to wriggle free. I am therefore thinking about getting some stronger restraints and also lockable. I'm having difficulty deciding between the following ranges:

Heavyweight Leather Wrist Cuffs http://www.top-to-bottom-leathers.co.uk/itemdeta.... I will probably get a whole set, wrist, ankle, thigh cuffs and collar. Firstly has anyone got these and what do they think of them and if anyone has experience of all of them that would be invaluable. I'm tempted by the last of the three, for a few reasons, they are UK based and it would be nice to support a UK business, however they are also the most expensive and in these times, money is tight. It does also mean they are easily contactable to send things back for repairs if they get damaged. I've also noticed that on the Premium Strict Leather Cuffs they sew the edges of the strap that goes through the buckle. Is that worth having? Or is it a nice detail, but one that won't add to the longevity? Anyway just looking for comments and advice. For such things I prefer http://www.top-to-bottom-leathers.co.uk/ Their stuff is great quality, especially their padded restraints, they easily make everything lockable, their products are aesthetically pleasing, they can also custom make stuff, and are great to work with (as in, I've met them in person, they know what they are doing, genuine, professional and nice). First thing you need to be aware of is that buying off the internet does not allow you the privalage of examining the cuffs by hand and feel, in my opinioon somthing that is a must if you want some which are comfortable.
Second is thier costruction, not all cuffs are the same. A good set should be made of robust yet soft to touch leather, they should also have a similar but softer inner linning.
The D Ring should be solid and not split so as to take the weight of pulling and the buckle likewise robust.
The riviting should be the larger type around the 3/8th to 1/2 inch type, this shoud also be the same on both sides. The iner rivet should also be hidden under the inner layer inside the cuffs.
Check the stitching as well and ask questions.
Although birmingham is not local to you I would sugest if possible that you go to the BBB fetish fair and view the vast selection that are available + you will have a great day out. Being a female that often wriggles free of such restraints, I've found that the only ones to keep me in (except certain rope ties) are thick, heavy duty rubber cuffs. My set are very comfortable, look good, and most importantly...because it is rubber, it doesn't slide easily and refuses to budge  perspectives change when you're on your knees ~ Killing Miranda | |

I strongly second Darkdollie's choice of rubber restraints. Rubber is the way to go. Leather is often expensive and can be unreliable (as you say). Rubber can be inexpensive enough to experiment with and can be completely inescapable if you really want it to be (rubber wrist straps over elbow-length rubber gloves are complete immovable, even by the cleverest and most double-jointed sub.) Try this supplier on eBay ru88er He makes superb wrist and ankle cuffs and the most lovely heavy rubber belts with D rings. He also does a superb full head-harness rubber ball gag. I also meant to say, his stuff costs less than half what you'll pay for leather or posh latex fetish sites (for example less than £20 for a pair of cuffs). What he said. I've parted with these on eBay: http://www.medicaltoys.com/padded-institutional-... They were good, but not that good.
And have Fetters padded leather restraints, but always, always prefer my double-buckle rubber restraints from Karl (Ru88er). They fit far better - there's no wriggling out of these - I always appear to be 'between holes' on leather restraints At a fraction of the price, rubber restraints are definately the way to go. HS x
