The fact of ones sexuality (in terms of gay/lesbian/bi etc.) may certainly have a bearing on needs for specific types of health services, as may whether you are sexually active, in a stable relationship and so on.
I have no issue with anonymised data being collected with regard to my sexuality where this may lead to better use of resources and an improvement in services available. I have, however, felt no need to discuss my sexuality with my family or most of my friends for the same reason I don't discuss my sex life with them: for the most part it is more information than they would want to know.

I think this post is the sensible answer to what the op was asking.
I can't provide the links but, the Equlities Minister, Harmans dept requested an economic survey on sexual minorities ie lgbt. Stonewall made a submission and most of it was confidential, so wasn't able to garner much information from it.
The EHRC do not have any data on sadomaschists or bdsm. None at all...yet. A fairly recent IC thread is here>>
