I haven't been on IC for some time. Nothing personal; I just got a bit bored with it, as I do with all of the websites I use, from time to time.
There seem to be a lot of troll-like profiles around again, all of a sudden, with names that don't even try to pretend they're not trolling.
Me, I'm thinking of changing my screen name to "I-hate-fuckin'-kids-and-cripples-so-keep-your-fuck in'-perverted-hands-off-my-money-you-fuckin'-commie -pinko-foo!"
It has a certain ring to it...

Okay, be honest now. Is this weblog in any way aimed at me? Given the threads to refer to, it's hard to see how it isn't... It's a rather sly and pathetic attempt to belittle me, without actually considering anything I have said properly. I have repeatedly said I am pro equal rights - my argument is simply that people pushing too hard, too fast constantly, only damage the cause that they support. If I hate cripples I then also by definition hate myself. My disability is time dependant. Some days I can walk, others I can't. Some days I can use stairs, others I can't. I don't have a wheelchair, but I regularly have to be sure there is a disabled toilet available, as I can't use a normal one. As for kids, I love them, pure and simple. The fact I don't think they should be present at munches has no bearing on that whatsoever.

Never let the wankers get you down - although perhaps that should be never go down on a wanker. HNGs etc have always plagued the internet so IC cannot be immune from their emissions but some days it does seem that there's an abundance of fuckwits stalking IC.

No one can definitively because it's often a personal opinion but sometimes there's a general consensus. Indeed, one mans fuckwit could easily be considered as anothers jewel of sparking wit, repartee and general insightful intelligence. Perhaps trolling, fuckwittery and HNGism should be considered as legitimate fetishes in themselves?

Only partly. The responses to DM's thread really shocked me. No-one (apart from DM) appeared to have any understanding of the duty to make "reasonable adjustments" under the DDA, and the bank's total failure to do so. So all the rubbish about using "public money" to improve access was something of a red herring, but the apparent number of people who would prefer that their money wasn't used to improve the lot of their fellow citizens did shock me.
But then, I have been so shocked in the past at how many pervs are such reactionary rightwing fucktards, I wonder why I am indeed still shocked. The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation - Pierre Trudeau

When I argued about money, it was to make the point that not every situation can simply be resolved by throwing money at it. There isn't a bottomless pit of money, as one poster seemed to be trying to argue. My main concern on that thread was that such an extreme case, used in relation to making munch venues become disabled friendly isn't going to win much support. I'd completely love it if someone could wave a magic wand, and overnight all venues could become completely accessible to all. Sadly this is never going to happen, so it's a question of making lots and lots of small changes. The more people we have onside in that, the better.

From the information I gathered from the posts on that weblog, I did agree with the majority. But then, that's another thread. The case in the OP seemed to be almost laughable by the time all the points for and against had been considered. "Nothing saves anyone's life, Sir. It just postpones their death." - Posner , The History Boys.
