I have a 'thing' for 18th century stays and historically accurate corsets so I like:

http://thestaymaker.co.uk/

His bespoke corsetry is circa £300 for a basic Victorian style with minimal flossing.

For everyday I like Vollers.

There are a couple of others I like who make historically accurate and very beautiful corsetry...

What Katie Did are a British company. Their corsets are well made and gorgeous and quite reasonable. They also have an ebay shop for end of line stuff and I've seen a few corsets go for £35, especially when they are at the lowest or highest end of the size range.

I'd second that. The corset in my photo is from What Katie Did. They're great. Lovely corsets, decent amount of choice, great customer service, and reasonable prices. Having said that,I only wear mine for events or short periods of time so don't know if they'd be appropriate for more regular wear.

I have one from Corsets Boulevard, and I have to say that for the price you pay it's a decent corset. I wasn't expecting it to tight-lace, I was expecting something that looks nice and is fun to wear.

And for that, it's fine!

Having said that, because I couldn't try it on, it doesn't quite suit my body type, and somehow manages to disappear my bust, which isn't quite what I was looking for!

I'd really recommend going somewhere where you can try on a variety of types and sizes for the first one. My first one was from Fairy Gothmother and was under £100, and it's fabulous (though slightly too small at the moment as I've...errr...expanded a tad).

Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (R. Frost)

I am another satisfied WKD customer.

I also have a Vollers corset which I bought about 15 years ago. It cost me about £100, an astronomical amount of money for me at the time. It's still going strong.

I've got a few corset boulevard corsets and they are great.

My longline lace covered one is certainly sturdy enough to withstand a whole night of fairly tight lacing which for £30 is wonderful.

I've also got a black satin underbust that is pretty good too. it's slightly too long for my body shape which means it doesn't cinch perfectly, but again good value for money and i'd buy from them again.

I probably wouldn't rate the 'fashion' corsets they do as they will bend out of shape and rumple very easily.

Abstinence doesn't equal safe play.... knowledge does.

I've not bought a WKD corset YET...but just you wait!

I got my Vollers from fairygothmother in 2004 and it's still just as fabulous now as it was then (and it's been made smaller too *wink*)

I cheat and make my own. I'm not up to proffesional standards but I have saved myself a fortune.

I make a variety of styles depending on what I want it for. I have a wonderful traditional Victorian pattern with either a dore (bust support) or without, as well as a fantastic Elizabethan style which won't sinch you in but looks amazing. I use only steel bones both spiral and flat... Which can be a nightmare to cut and end, and when I've had enough of one I strip it and salvage what bones I can!

I love making them and then wearing it knowing I made it. And the more I make the better I'm getting.

But I can tell you, the cost of corsets is worth it because of the effort it takes to make one! So if they are very cheap the chances are so is the quality.

And you really do need to try them on first, as has been said diffrent styles suit diffrent shapes.

Hi..

my favourite and only place for corsetry is the lovely, Velda Lauder, Corsetiere.

She is an artist at what she does and will be exhibiting at the Erotica show at Olympia, London, 20th, 21st and 22nd November 2009.

Her custom corsets are beyond compare.

Although living in Norway, she measured, made them when Wwe were there visiting London and shipped without problems. She also made alterations later when it was taken back to her, due to weight loss for next to nothing when Wwe were visiting.

They are strong and do not bend. (which is what aysun was looking for) .. And most importantly, they last.

She does have some corsets 'off the rack' which are inexpensive by comparison to what you get and are made with the same care as the custom corsets. There is a vast choic of sizes and styles. She stands behind her work.

Just my two kroner worth. Hoping it helps.. *grins*

(will add a photo of the custom one on the profile now)

Velda is brilliant! Have a couple of her corsets and they never failed. Her patterns always enhances the hourglass figure.
