My family and other furries.
Ok so I pinched the name from Gerald Durrel, I admit to it, but as you read on you will understand why.
First I must thank @TaintedInnocence for her link to the BBC regarding the best write up for a long time about furries and their lifestyle.
So, how does this involve my family? Well my oldest boy, Noah, is a polar bear cub, and, from what I am given to understand, the only one in the UK, his partner is a Fox, now, what many people may, or may not know it, the process of ownership in Furdom.
My son is the pet of Fox, however, they are also Dom and sub, however, Fox also has other pets, these are non sexual, and some may be the owners of others, but all are answerable to Fox, or in some cases Noah. (There are about 6 to 8 in all).
It is not dissimilar to our scene where a Master/Mistress can own a sub/slave, who also can own a sub/slave or who has other sub/slaves but are not in a sexual relationship with the original M/s pair, just collared and owned by them, such as bruce, our slave, who is a serving slave not a sexual slave.
The interesting thing in our family, is that all 3 children (Noah, Jason and Emilie) all see Master as the head of the family, in some cases unknowingly, in a true M/s style, if they want anything they ask Master, after calling me of course, don't know why as they all know I do not have money, if they want advice that I cannot give, they know to ask Master, if they want something done or need to go somewhere, then we help out or send bruce.
Now back to the furry side of the family and how it works there. Noah has no problems telling his furfriends who we are, in fact he will often call us when one has a problem, just as a friendly voice, (for which we are flattered), as many of them are unable to tell their family, just like in our scene, what they are into.
A little anecdote here, we once turned up at Noahs, having asked if we could stay overnight on our travels, when we got there, a small red car pulled up and about 5 people got out. They followed us into the house, were there was already a further 2 or 3 other people besides Fox and Noah, waiting, we were shown through to the living room, fed cups of tea and then asked if we would meet these friends of our son as they could not believe we were really there! We were treated like royalty and heard comments being made to Noah in the kitchen about how lucky he was, then they all left as suddenly as they had come, apparently to spread the word that it was true about Noah's parents and yes, HE does where leather trousers at all times, and yes they did see the wedding photos and everything Noah had said was true.
Back to the family, so, how does it work with the furries? Well, take for example one day, Fox (who was still learning at the time what it was like to be Dom to an expanding family) was having problems with Puppy, so he called us up, I took to the call, I spoke to Puppy and explained the hierarchy, he though Fox had been kidding him, then I explained about the CB3000, how it would be fitted and how Master would keep the key until such a time as Fox decided that Puppy's behaviour had improved. Needless to say, Puppy's behaviour not only improved but he listened more carefully to Fox and Noah.
Going back to the anecdote, Puppy had been in the kitchen when we arrived, and he came out, and gave us both big hugs, and even, for a while, sat between us on the floor where we scritched him from time to time, no one was in there fursuits while we were there, although there was one visitor who was there to be measured up for his as Fox is getting more well known on the scene as a Fursuit maker.
We are still learning about Furries, their scene, their needs and wants, and it is not much different from ours, however, what we have also learnt over the years, is the intolerance from our scene to the Furries, not everyone is acceptable of them, and to top it all, I have been in chat on IC where someone might ask me about my furrie family and have been told, by unnamed persons, to stop talking about furries as they are nothing to do with the scene and they don't want to know about them anyway, so I am sorry to say, we are proud of our family, and, for the majority of people who wish to know we will answer questions anywhere they are askedJ.
Oh yes, and if you look at the pictures on my profile you will see Fox, resplendent in his Fursuit, who led me in with a rubber encased wolverine to the registrar, although a new pic of Fox is going up soon, so watch this space!!
So to the rest of the family, Emilie is still Domme, despite her latest picture portrayal by Jahc, and Jason is still vanilla (so he tells us), and soon we shall have a grandchild who will have big furry uncles to play with, an uncle who can mend his cars and a pair of travelling grandparents to send him (yes HIM) postcards from all over the UK and perhaps one day, the world. Oh yes and a special uncle, bruce, to drive him to school. Who knows what the future will bring to my family and its extended members!

I must say when you showed me the pictures Morgan i was taken back by how good the fursuits are ! Thanks for sharing , jump leads holding out ? Heh heh x Follow your dreams ! ....Except the one where you are naked in church . |

Thanks for sharing that Morgan - furries are something I know relatively little about but I really can't understand why the BDSM community would be mean to them  Come to the Cardiff fish and chips munch |
