I was once told my black shirt wasn't black enough...I kid you not!...
Needless to say...It was at that point that I realised my money would be better spent in my local boozer,with friends and staff who enjoyed my company...

Yes, if I had that reaction club, on behalf of a club dress code, I would come to the same conclusion that you did.
The only bad sartorial reaction I have had at a club was from a 'dom' at club Pedestal (no reflection on the club, this dom just happened to be there), telling me that 'yes, your bum does look big in that'. Charming, esp as her opinion had not been asked for.
She was right that I do have a large arse but then again, she looked like widow cranky and I hadn't seen fit to tell her that...
