Losing his job over it might be a tad harsh, but somebody definitely needs to take his guns away. Silly sod.

If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, you might want to stop waving that axe around.

Thanks to the article, we now know what type of handgun the officers of the Met's CO19 unit use... way to go BBC; interestingly the journalist is not credited on the article.

I also wouldn't have thought armed Police officers were allowed to take firearms home with them: if they are then it is an impenetrably stupid policy decision, if not then the photograph must have been taken when he was, erm, on duty.

The BBC link said '[he]displayed a series of photographs on an adult dating site...and some of the pictures showed him in uniform.'

Which would indicate they were up on his profile, but they may be mistaken.

In the spirit of being a right nosey bitch I had a look and it seems he had a profile on plentyoffish (same name, right age) which was closed today. Whether he had another one on an out and out perv site I don't know but from the info in the BBC article I don't think we can be sure that the photos were actually up.

If they were actually sent privately my views would be changed a fair bit.

ETA:

Different spin on what the photos and and where in this version

Hewwo! I make nylon whips. Take a peek at my profile if you'd like to buy one. :)

Non of the answers above address the issue raised by the article.

The word was judgement.

This man has the power of life and death over us, in a split second he may have to make that call that will change/destroy/save people lives (or lack off)

and yet he didn't have the simple self preservation to realise prancing about on the web waving his gun would a. get noticed and b. result in his dismissal.?

Seems like a good call to me. I like my armed police to be reasonably intelligent with a bit of nous. We will all sleep a mite safer tonight methinks.

Yeah exactly, people in the forces and the police aren't just people like you; they come from the realm of authority with the power of life and death over people. So:

No medical professional should ever be a pervert... I wouldn't want them to be about to save my life and then have kinky thoughts and accidentally kill me - because even though they're clever enough to have passed medical exams, their tiny little cortex's will be overborne by the disease that is BDSM.

No emergency services or military. Teachers too have access to children and think of all the damage they'll no doubt cause!! Social workers deal with possible suicides; crossing attendants are a risk too...oh and builders who build our homes too...they could fall on our heads!!

They should have the common sense to hide in the shadows in fear of losing their jobs so that someone who has nothing to do with them won't ever have any concerns raised in their minds due to societal ignorance... then we can all sleep in peace! Same with the gays, no...?? The more they stayed in the closet, the safer everyone felt and the better it was for them. AMEN, BROTHER...sensible policies for KEEPING ALTERNATIVE SEXUALITIES STIGMATISED FOREVER!! :(

Like it or not the only way that any civil rights movement ever achieves its aims is by people standing up and risking (and often losing) their jobs and careers until society has had it explained to it LONG ENOUGH AND HARD ENOUGH that it is wrong and this sort of discrimination is unacceptable in the 21st century... No matter what the law says, BDSM is not a mental illness and should have no bearing on your employment. :)

From the info in the second article link posted where there is additional information, i think it is possibly a sensible thing for him to have been removed from his post. The fact he is into bdsm is irrelevent and they have only really included that in the story as a juicy filler and i suspect by the sounds of it.. media spin, but the main factors i would imagine his employers were pissed off over were the fact he was using his position, his glock (i am wary to use the word weapon when considering all the object evident in other pics) and his uniform to procure dates and sex.

He seems to have boasted and given information about previous cases out to others, and given out all sorts of sensitive information about himself out into the public domain which could have left him and his colleagues vulnerable.

Those are a whole host of reasons why someone of that persona should not be in the job he holds.

I have a huge fetish for those in the uniform, but part of that desire is based and built on the fact that they are responsible enough to deserve to wear the uniform.

I don't see that his BDSM proclivities are even the issue. His posting pictures of himself waving a gun around in order to get laid would be the issue for me.

The police have got to be seen to practice what they preach or else they undermine their own authority. Now given that one of the problems they face is gun culture, young men acquiring weapons as status symbols- how does it look to have a presumably highly trained police officer waving a gun around on the Internet like it's cool? It makes the officer in question look a dickhead, and it makes the entire force, by association, look like dickheads if they don't deal with it.

It wouldn't bother me if a cop liked getting pissed on at one end and bumraped at the other while dressed as Little Red Riding Hood as long as he took his job and responsibilities seriously. This guy clearly doesn't and ought to be relegated to something a little less demanding such as chew toy for the dogs.

If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, you might want to stop waving that axe around.

I hope he sues the media for copyright infringement. And perhaps the Government should disconnect their Internet connections...

:-D

The Sun says Naked gun cop in net sex pic shame with some of his pictures.

However, this kind of infringement by newspapers is going to be stopped soon! Rupert Murdoch and News International are going on a legal crusade to sue people who do this on the basis that fair use/dealing is wrong.

I wonder if he really will sue himself this time? As his Fox News apparently threatened to do to his own Fox TV and the Simpsons' production company?

(He's also going to stop Google indexing his newspaper websites, which is great news for other news sites.)

Tanos

I'd never thought I would live to see the day when a British policeman would have and then shamelessly show off a tramp stamp.
