Saw this today on BBC news site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/835286... Can anyone explain to me what this guy has done to warrant being removed from his post and placed under investigation? I mean, if he'd actually shot an unarmed innocent civilian, I could understand it. But no, apparently his offence was to have a profile on an adult dating website where he described himself as 'dominant'. How dreadful, eh? Would it have made a difference if he'd described himself as 'vanilla', do you think? Or if he was in some other branch of the police? I'm really struggling to see any rational thought, let alone logic, behind the actions of the police hierarchy here. Can we all be hounded from our jobs merely for being on IC? I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence and insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me - Hunter S. Thompson.

Posing in your works uniform with a pistol on display is rather silly though.

Indeed. It's fraud: there's no way he could be dominant with a name like that. I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence and insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me - Hunter S. Thompson.

Not much information to go on there. It might be because he said he was with CO19. From what I know firearms officers need to be secretive because they are likely targets. At least that's the excuse that's been used for confiscating cameras when taking a photo of a police car parked on double yellow lines (vehicle in question was allegedly a firearms vehicle) Still, anyone in a sensitive position needs to be careful about accidentally being "outed" - kink has cost people their jobs A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - Confucius

Just to add, I don't think it warrants him being removed from the post though. He shouldn't really be glorifying guns to make himself look 'hard' though in my opinion.

He's probably a very nice guy and very genuine but - sheesh! - you don't mention you are a police officer on adult sites like this. Not EVER. At best he's showing poor judgement, at worst he's wide open to blackmail or murder. A few years ago squaddies and police officers were warned NOT to reply to personal ads which claimed to be from women seeking soldiers or police officers. The fear was that the IRA would use these ads to set traps and murder said soldiers/police officers. Things have not improved that much. He's not only advertising he is a policeman but a policeman with professional access to guns. Flogher - I cane, I whip, I cuddle

I think people should start being more willing to stand up and say, "yes I'm kinky, but that has not relevance to my job. So what?" "People are inherently evil, but very, very funny" - Joe Orton.

I often receive memos and pictures, here and on other websites, from men in the army, showing their pics in uniform. In fact, there is a dating website for people in uniforms. "People are inherently evil, but very, very funny" - Joe Orton. |
