not only do you send a childlike scrawled letter to a dead heros mum .. but you cant even check it for spelling mistakes!!!

His poor mum now not only has the pain of burying her son ... but you insult his memory ... oww yes your the person we want running this country ....NOT!!!!

to the mother of this guy ... please can i say ..sorry .. we as a country should hang our heads in shame ... Your son died doing his duty and we should all thank him for that ... even if you dont agree with this war ..

Whilst I agree the spelling error is unforgiveable, especially considering the appalling context. The childlike writing is another matter, I may not like GB at all, but he does only have one eye and has to write in large print, so that sort of insult seems to be a little below the belt. Mind you as quietsoul says, what can you expect from the Sun? It's hardly a newspaper, more a comic for those unable to read a broadsheet.

Not a fan of GB but... ermm child like scrawl ...i know of several men that write like that my Dr being one of the worst.... Find it a bit petty for 'The Sun' to mock a mans writing skills..Perhaps thats just me though...

And as for the typo.. LOL @ the sun slagging anyone for mispelling a name when i think of the lives they have ruined 'outing' people who have had affairs/ are into BDSM... ect

Not the same as the poor man that was killed in action.. but The Sun is a joke of a paper...

this was an official letter to the mother of a dead soldier should it not of been checked before it was sent ??? didnt see it in the sun .. its all over sky news with a mother in tears ..again !!!

A handwritten note would be more personal, however he made the mistake, as I said before, I think that is bad.

However...

I don't watch Sky news anymore than I read the Sun or any other tabloid rag. They are all from the same stable. I prefer to obtain a balanced view.

Populist criticism for someone's disability is poor journalism.

I agree, slagging off his writing is low.

I work with doctors and professors who have appalling handwriting skills.

Some peoples brains work too fast for their hands me thinks!

Well at least he bothered to send a letter. He doesn't have to.

I don't like GB, but come on, can't we find better things to slag him off about?

I know the guy is half blind but what does this say about attention to detail for the man running your country?

Better not to bother at all than make such a cock of it.

How would he feel if it were one of his children in years to come?

I came, I saw, I concurred

Thing is, people who do the actual heroic acts arent doing it for any form of recognition or a letter from the PM.

Im pretty sure neither are the driving forces for putting your life on the line.

So to be fair, there are bigger issues in the world than his sloppy letter saying well done.

I think no matter what we think of GB, even we know he doesn't have total lack of respect for people dying for their country, so I believe its a genuine mistake and their are more pressing issues he needs to be pulled up on.

I do have to say when watching the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance Ceremony on saturday night. The cameras flicked to show GB and his wife showed GB and I have to say he looked bored emtionless and a look that said he didnt even want to be there. Unlike the emtion showed by everybody else.

Ok, so his spelling sucks a bit, but would people not slag him off just as much if he just signed a perfunctory printed letter?
