I always imagined that I would lose my virginity when in a long-term relationship with someone. I'm 21 now, and have never had a relationship with anyone. I lose my virginity to my duty manager after a drunken night at 19. He was a decent guy, and I think I did it more for the reaction of colleagues than because I wanted to. I did attach a meaning to my virginity... But I wasn't too bothered after I'd lost it. I was more bothered that I'd have to find another way of shocking my colleagues. I have to agree with the OP but with the added emphasis about choice over the matter. Sexuality is such a fundamental part of human nature...and it is so right to explore free from inhibitions...I hate all this dogma about what you 'should' do when it comes to sex because it means the decision is devoid of choice. If something feels right, surely its right to do it (subject to normal constraints of consent etc) Encouraging people to stay virgins is a bit like expecting telling a professional footballer never to train before his first professional match!
