The answer? Badly....
The mushrooms have been a complete loss alas, and the marrow thingy in the garden has died a death.
I will probably start some herbs off in the spring but that will be about it as I will be looking at another house move and so have no idea if I will have outside space or not.
I don't like to end on a bad note however so I'm sure my regular readers will be happy to know that 2 months ago I was united with a yukka plant I have owned since 1996. It was a present from my first boyfriend when I went off to university. I've had to leave it in the care of plant sitters for the last couple of years but I now have the space and ceiling height to accommodate it once more
When it was first given to me it was 18 inches high and now the topmost part of the leaves reach to approximately 9 feet.
Astoundingly my housemate did not notice that I had installed a 9 foot high tree in his living space until I pointed it out to him yesterday. Bless...

Congratulations on the yukka. My green fingers only work for outdoor plants. I kill houseplants. I'm tempted to grow this courgette next year.

When do broccoli plants actually produce something edible? They are huge and very healthy looking but there is nothing but leaves.

Up to 3 feet long???
Loads of manure (or compost) and loads of water seems to be the secret with squashes. We planted one on top of a compost heap and gave it a bucket of water every day and it thrived.
