Are just more than I can take.

I've just heard the first 30 seconds of that gag worthy song Coming Home by The Soldiers. What a load of bollocks, it is fucking dire. I'll donate the cost of the CD to Help for Heroes, SSAFA and the British Legion, but no way on earth will I buy the CD. It is nearly as annoying as the fucking Go Compare adverts on tv and I've only heard it once.

The problem is, you just know it is going to end up as some sort of theme song for returning troops. This is music for the girlfriends left behind to sob themselves to sleep with every night, or mothers to listen to as they worry about sons and daughters in Afghanistan, but is pure bublegum music with no real substance.

There is a reason that military musical pieces are normally called marches, it's because they make you stand up straight and feel proud of yourself, they allow you to get in step with the rest of your unit, they are bold and brash. Yet this song, Coming Home, makes me think of surrender, or apology, there is no fucking backbone to it and there is no passion in the voices, even Take That could do a better job.

Why produce such a stunning piece of mediocrity? The very people it is about will be miming sticking their fingers down their throats every time they hear it, I know that because I was once of them.
