Well I read of some of the exciting things people have done and here but whilst I am a boring old fart I often conclude that their play is just not my kink. But then again they probably don't like my kink either

In that context 'being so boring' means that you are not living up to society's idea of what constitutes 'interesting'. Most of what constitutes society's idea of interesting is based on superficial constraints of 'drama' and celebrity. Changing your life so you prioritised those things wouldn't make you a better person, it would probably make you a worse one and certainly less unique.
