1.Examine all articles of clothing from the offending batch of laundry. You will want to remove the crayon from all pieces of clothing at one time. It's going to be tedious and time consuming. Step 2.Lay the stained area of clothing on several paper towels. Four or five paper towels should do the trick. Try not to have any layers of material under the stain or you may end up with more mess than you bargained for. Step 3.Spray the stains with a car part lubricant. Let it sit for a few minutes. Flip the clothing over and spray on the opposite side. Let the fabric sit for a few minutes more. Step 4.Pour a little liquid dish washing detergent onto the stained area. Gently rub the detergent into the stain. The wax will work it's way onto the paper towels. Replace the towels as needed. Continue to work detergent into the stain until all of the crayon is removed. Step 5.Wash the clothing with laundry detergent and color-safe bleach. Use a hot water cycle for 15 minutes or on the heavy load option. Rinse the clothing in warm water. Step 6.Verify that the stain(s) have been completely removed. If there's still crayon residue on the clothing, repeat steps above. Step 7.Clean the drum of your washer/dryer before drying any more clothing in it. If you fail to clean the drum, you'll likely end up with crayon marks on your clothing again. After cleaning the dryer, dry your garments as usual.
Step 8.Beat the child who didn't put his/her things away after using them (º•.¸(¨*•.¸¸.•*¨)¸.•º) «.•°•. Scarlet .•°•.» (¸.•º(¸.•¨**¨•.¸)º•.¸) Edited 27 Oct 09, 11:18 AM by xXx_scarlet_xXx

What about doing some sort of greaseproof paper and iron thing? That sounds like it should work.

Or....E mail Crayola Crayon makers and ask them... Or, I found this from an Internet mother: My sister told me to use WD 40 on the crayon spots by dabbing it on with a sponge and using a paper towel on top of the stain to absorb the colour. Let this sit for several minutes. I left it for 15-20 minutes. Then washed the spot using dish washing liquid. I then washed them in the machine (actually, twice) to get the rest of the stain out. The bright red crayon stains came out of a pale pink sweatshirt that I thought was ruined. Mineral spirits can also be used in place of the WD 40. The only problem I see with this method is that the smell of the WD40 tends to linger in the clothes, but I feel that, with a few washings, it will lose its scent. (º•.¸(¨*•.¸¸.•*¨)¸.•º) «.•°•. Definitely gotta clean the drum. You'll probably have to use some sort of solvent... white spirit perhaps? Then I'd suggest washing something old that you can throw away or use for dusters, like a sheet, that you can test the machine on before putting any more clothes in. Good luck!
Oh and scarlet... I thought you were putting up shelves 'n stuff

Gaaahhh - not white spirit!!! I can light my woodstove with 5cc of the stuff, it is highly volatile.
do an empty 90 degree wash cycle with a double dose of washing powder The past is history, tomorrow is a mystery, the present is a gift.

When I did this (baby left a blue crayon in her pocket, never had to check her clothes before, my how they grow!) I just re-washed the items after scraping the blue out of the drum. It all came out.... perhaps not as badly stained as yours though, I needed to do nothing special with it! and see those guys I guess they're quite clever get you outside women's needs - whatever |
