Please read this story and consider writing to your MP and the Foreign Secretary to appeal for clemency for bipolar sufferer Akmal Shaikh who is facing the death sentence in China. It's a very sad story about a clearly vulnerable man who has a history of severe mental illness.

Many thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have emailed my MP and the Foreign Secretary; i've also sent the link to everyone i know who also suffers from mental health difficulties. Hopefully we can prevent this man's death. The South-Dorset munch is here | ||

Thank you for reading but there's no need to shout. I don't use twitter but I'm grateful to Miss Lead who sent me the link so I could add my support. Stephen Fry is indeed a lovely bloke but he's not the only bipolarite in the village. I am adding my support to the campaign because I was moved by Akmal Shaikh's story and because my father had Bipolar and I also have a form of it. I'm very happy that Stephen Fry is heading this appeal as his popularity and his following on Twitter means that many more people may get to hear this story. Hope you have a lovely evening x

Yeah it's crazy. Here's this intelligent, compassionate, universally respected man, a man of many talents, who has contributed to our culture, served a little time and entertained millions and he talks, and people listen. What sort of world do we live in when people listen to such men? It's stupid. What can a man like that say that is possibly worth hearing? People ought to be listening to astrologers and reality TV stars. That's where the real wisdom is. All that is required for the triumph of evil is for Chuck Norris to change sides. Absolutely horrifying story and sad that the Chinese authorities cannot see that this person is mentally ill and allow for some of his actions that are obviously delusional. I will post the link around Red and write to my MP also, this really should not happen to an individual. Consider my support given.
