Are you on any pain meds?? If not then I recommend tramadol and paracetamol as they work well together.Maybe ask doctor to refer you to a pain management clinic.I have a long term illness & pain is one of the symptoms I get.It can drive you crazy if you get no break from it.Big hugs for you xx

Have you thought of maybe getting a exersize bike so you can do if you feel up to it? Or there any may things for sale in the chemist to help with weight loss. For example exersize ball, skipping rope, tread steppers,or even the battery operate belt thing that works the muscles for you.Ankle weights etc.wear around house whilst your doing housework

Has your doc referred you to a physiotherapist? They may be able to assist you. FIFE & TAYSIDE MUNCH

I hope this does not sound as rude as it will look on page but 15 seconds from the changing rooms to the pool versus lowering the pain you are in? I know which one I would chose! If it helps, I used to be a life guard and we see all shapes, sizes and mobility in the pool. You may not 'stand out' as much as you think you would. All the best RD xx It is not what you say or do but the way you say or do it Edited 19 Oct 09, 7:56 AM by River_Deep

I've had a similar problem (added 3 stone in eight months) after cancer surgery. I've just been prescribed Gabapentin. It 's a epilepsy medication, which changes the neural synapses (or something). They have greatly reduced the pain I was having and am now starting to exercise again. They do have strong side-effects though.

hi amarya, When was the arthritis diagnosed & what tests did the doc do? As if it's affecting all your joints & you have pain everywhere I was just wondering if it is in fact rheumatoid arthritis, not osteo arthritis. Sorry if this has already been ruled out. Also, could you maybe ask your doc to refer you for some hydro therapy? All the best and hope you are able to access something that will be more helpful than just the pain meds you have at present. xx ~ If you must pick the lesser of two evils; choose the one you've never tried before. ~
