i wonder what i fear the most: my mind fading before my body - or my body fading before my mind?

Lets hope they go at the same time ! There are two excellent theories for arguing with women ; neither one works !

Well if your body goes you can always still remember and imagine but if your mind goes you wont know what your body is doing and wont care anyway!
So for me body first...but then that might be because I have a very vivid imagination and dirty mind sometimes! Tazallie

Oh the mind for me, I'll keep that til last I hope. I am planning on living to be very old and very very knackered and have laid out my plans for mental incapacity too (eg I'll still be attending every possible DAN demo, dribbling Sign up to CAAN's statement www.caan.org.uk

when it happens it happens just get stuck into life and enjoy it, I'm hoping I'm good for at least another 20 years I was reading a penioners poll survey last week and the answer to "what is your biggest regret" was "not having enough sex". The Nurse told me that if I do get ill then try and make it Parkinsons so at least I'll continue to be useful to her

My mother had dementia for 4 years before she died it was really sad although her body was in a bad way too. It must be different for the demented person though who sees the world in other ways than those around them. So which is worse who can really tell? Anyhow the brain is part of the body so it is the same thing in so many ways. "Red hair and black leather is my favourite colour scheme" - Richard Thompson

Don't waste you life by worrying what might go wrong in the future and consentrate on enjoying yourself and the company of your friends and family now. Nothing wrong with making plans just don't fixate on what might be at the expense of enjoying what's in your life now. Having helped nurse several friends and family, and if i had to pick one, i'd say having the mind go first is the easier for the individual but hardest on those who care about you the most.
This post doesn't apply to me as i'm going to live forever like a god. lol Mind what people do, not only what they say for deeds will betray a lie.

The mind for me as well. My living will card used to say "Do not resuscitate if brain damaged*. I don't think I'd provide that many useful spare parts though - I think the body is wearing out already. Mike ('The Prof')

I'm sure I came on here to say something but I'm blowed if I can remember what it was... oh yes... My body is a temple... unfortunately I seem to have eaten too many worshippers... The mind may grow wise, but the heart just sulks and it
whines and remains a child.

These thoughts occur for many people at some point. I don't see a lot to be gained from contemplating it though. No one knows what the future will bring... But I hope it keeps surprising. Don't worry about the future, look forward to it. It'll be an adventure. Lovely sunshine girl |
