Hi all.
For those of you who frequent the Keston Munch this is just an update on Chris, the owner of the venue.
As all regular Keston Munchers are aware Chris has been fighting oesophageal cancer for quite a while now. Twice, despite hospital assurances that it was on the retreat, it has turned round and made a comeback. Now, to add insult to injury it's taken up residence in his spine.
He's fighting hard and is going for it big time with a new chemo that's in the experimental stage. Although the stuff makes him feel like shite, he's battling on but a few prayers and good thoughts don't come amiss in this sort of thing.
I'm really chuffed to say that he still hopes to be well enough to be my Best Man at my marriage to Lyn next week because that's the kind of Top Man that he is.
So if you've been to Keston or even if you haven't, this planet's too bloody short of genuinely decent, caring people such as he is, so keep him in your thoughts ok?
Thanks
Slim aka The ICM

I think very highly of Chris. a very gentle man, even tempered and good natured who you never hear complain, Who has the milk of human kindness by the quart in every vein, A patient man , down to his fingertips, the sort who never could, ever would, let an insulting remark escape his lips Very gentle man... Mok and I have him in our thoughts and hope to see him on the 26th Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"/ Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."" |

A quick update is that Chris' latest chemo seems to be doing something despite being a sight worse than the previous treatments. I am really chuffed to say that he will definitely be able to be there as my best man at the event of the century, when I marry my sublyn on Saturday September 26th (next Saturday) and to be there for me in the same way he stood for me when my cancer looked like it was winning back in 2007.
Have you any idea how effective government censorship is?..... No?..... Effective isn't it ! |
