As does my lack of money sense.
So, I have been in desperate need of an eye test as not only has it been over 5 years (and they recommend 2) but I've also been less hot on the 'seeing things' front. So I booked my SpecSavers spesh at half price £15 and went this afternoon after work. Turns out I do need much stronger glasses and should be wearing them much more than I ever wear mine already. I hate myself in glasses and I spent ages finding the ones I already own, so I enquired about getting new lenses in those. Fine - £39. Bargain really.
Let's digress...
I have a snoop around the shop, just to be sure there's not some newly designed glasses suitable for a face not suited to glasses; there's not. I thank the assistants and off I trot. KAPPOW! Conscience hits me. I didn't pay for my eye test. A minute later, after screwing up my forehead, looking pensive and probably swaying a little, I walk back and go pay. Grrr.
SpecSavers are hardly a little independent shop and are probably over charging me by £10, even with the 'half price' named offer. I'm coming to the end of my salary month and things are getting tighter, as they usually do. Who needs the £15 more - well duh - I do! Fucking conscience.
Anyway, to cheer myself up after doing that and mildly regretting it, I went to H&M and bought myself a new going out top. Well, it was half price ![]()

Well I know. I did say to myself 'What would Jesus do?'. I concluded he'd probably heal his eyes and save himself the money and the ridicule of wearing glasses, but I couldn't help think I'd struggle with that option. Also - my cat hissed in my face tonight. Just thought I'd share. x What runs through your veins, that's where our similarity ends...

Could've been worse I believe if you spend most of your working day at a computer your company has to provide free eye-tests; my place gives out Specsavers vouchers. Probably doesn't apply to you, but you never know, your employers may have a similar scheme that they don't like to talk about.

I'll ask, though as they practically make us pay for our own air, I'm not going to hold my breath. Arrrf. x What runs through your veins, that's where our similarity ends...

Ah....I wouldn't have gone back. If it had been a small, local eye testing people, then yes I would. But a massive company like that...nah.
There's enough honest people out there mereckons to keep them afloat! Btw, I'm the complete opposite. I HATE my face without glasses! |
