Hello all, Does IC serve different pages if the browser is on a mobile device, or do we see the same pages, with possibly some effort on the part of the browser to make them readable? I've started using opera mini with IC quite a bit, and there are a few glitches in the rendering that make it hard to use irrespective of which settings I give opera. Does anyone have a recommended mini browser for IC that works well? It's the mobile browser which translates the page as far as I can remember... I have a cheap shitty little mobile, and I use the none mobile specific opera, and IC works great on that (I have another glitch with opera but that is anything running java on my phone not just opera) "that artwork is rather dark" "well yes, I wasn't exactly expecting winnie the pooh!"

At the moment there isn't a separate design for IC pages sent to a mobile. As Admin uses an iPhone it may be safeish to assume Safari would work quite well, if there is a mobile non iPhone Safari. Though one of the benefits of an iPhone is the zoom feature, which has been patented, so you may have to wait until 2026 to get it on a Nokia. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

You can zoom on a Nokia 5800 now. However, you can't log into IC, well I can't. Which isn't too much of a problem to be honest. "Me? I'm all about the hugs.

or until someone realises the stupidity of being able to patent 'moving your fingers apart The main glitches I have are; - the bottom banner sits over the 'next' button when you zoom in (so you have to scroll 3000 miles to the top after each page - the reformetted ("mobile view") page has the left hand bar at the top (more furious scrolling to get to content)
If anyone has a setup that doesn't do those things, please shout or memo -

The mobile view will do that, it's how opera places things in mobile view (and how other browsers like openwave - but don't get me on just how bad openwave is) All I can suggest it uninstall the opera you have at the min, and then go to mini.opera.com on your pc, head to download, under the list of supported phones there is a link to download the generic one to your pc, download that then bluetooth or usb it across to your phone "that artwork is rather dark" "well yes, I wasn't exactly expecting winnie the pooh!" |
