So it appears I'm a control freak...

This might not surprise anyone else but it shocked the hell out of me! Upon review it makes a lot of sense, and explains much of my past erratic behaviour, especially the bits where I get 'bossy' or 'Domnimo'...

All the times when I've become ridiculously stressed but not realised until I became ill in some way... the way in which I get upset at sudden schedule changes...

Having spent my entire life so far thinking of myself as distinctly laid-back and scatty it's all a bit of a mental u-turn, but an interesting one.

Luckily, I'm assured by a close friend that if I can embrace it then the next time someone tells me I'm being bossy I can say: 'I'm a control freak so get stuffed' and feel utterly fine with that :)

Swings and roundabouts...

Not quite that simple. You'd have to tell them HOW to get stuffed, why it is in their interests for a well-balanced future and the exact outlet to visit for the stuffing to be acheived most successfully.

I can't imagine you being bad bossy though, I'm sure it's only constructive, productive, useful type bossy :)xx

Isn't it funny that the day we realised we like you was the day you got a pool!

I have a similar stock phrase 'I"m high maintenance.Deal with it!' I'm sure your attention to the minutiae and detail of life makes having control taken away from you all the more satisfying and piquant.xx

I used to think I was really laid back but it was only when I started living with someone that I realised that I am not as laid back as I first though.

Now I know I am a calm person but that I need to feel very in control or I can become quite stressed and demanding.

It's useful to know that because I can now challenge myself and my reactions to situations. I think I am probably a much easier person to be around now.

I have lived a whole life this way. All you can do is embrace it, work with it and learn to read the signs of when it's getting to you and take time out.

You is who you is, but I tell you one thing. Control freaks get things DONE!

Hmmm, herself has bossy moments - but usually manages to dress them up as "service" moments instead.

A certain sort of control freakery can be marvellous in a submissive person - someone who really wants the detail of their life to matter, takes pains with their personal pronouns (or lack of), plucks that very last pubic hair, never neglects to stop and wait for the door to be opened for them, bows before they leave the room - even if the bowee is asleep and oblivious to the bower's efforts :)...

... That sort of thing?

Patience is bitter - but its fruit is sweet.

That all sounds very familiar. I'm pretty chilled and happy, but because I'm doing what I want when I want. As soon as that's out of my control I get stressed and a bit tetchy.

So not that laid back in reality it seems.

There's nothing wrong with being who you are, and as you say, people just need to deal with it and accept it :)

Two types of control freaks:

One has to arrange everything, be in charge of said arrangements and gets antsy if this is disrupted or taken away

The other spends so much time controling one thing (or trying to) that everything else goes to pot. This results in said control freak running around like a headless chicken but refusing to allow anyone else to take over.

I am one of the above.
