Do you shop in Primark? (12)

Love it or hate it?

Due to being an eternal student with no loan and two horses to hoover up any spare money that ever comes my way, I have been so, so permanently broke for the last couple of years :-(

If it wasn't for Primark I wouldn't have a stitch. Okay, so they are totally disposable clothes, and admittedly there's a lot of crap in there as well as the cute bits and pieces, but for the money they're fantastic. Sometimes you hear the ethical thing of them mercilessly exploiting the sweatshop workers, but then so do all the other high street shops, so unless you avoid them all then there's not much point avoiding one particular company.

Ahh I love Primark :-)

I never went into Primark untill just before our holiday in June. I'd just bought my son loads of shorts and t shirts from BHS. Cost me a frigging fortune! My son wanted some of those shitty plimsole shoes that everyone is wearing and i wasn't paying £15 for them! Walking past Primark they had some in the window for £2. Went in and they had t shirts like the ones i'd got for little man at a fraction of the cost. I couldn't believe it! So i'm all for Primark. Cheap is good when clothes are only gonna last five minutes.

I'm so fucking fabulous, i piss glitter. :-D

I've recently lost quite a bit of weight and kitted myself out with a new wardrobe mainly courtesy of Primark, New Look and Peacocks. I don't want to spend too much money on clothes until I'm sure that my weight has stabilised, but I had to do something because most of my clothes were falling off me (I've dropped 2 sizes so far).

I wouldn't dream of shopping in Primark any more than I would contemplate wearing fur.

Wherever clothes are that cheap whoever is actually making them is not going to be getting a fair wage.

The question marks over the ethics of Primark's production are just to big for me and I wish they would put a lot more people off.

I hate Primark and unless they clear their act up I probably always will.

The problem is that ALL manufacturers exploit their workers. Just because you're paying more for something is no guarantee that the people making it are being treated any better.

I have been involved with a campaign called No Sweat which campaigns for better conditions for sweatshop workers by organising solidarity and support for them - and generally the workers in these jobs want to keep their jobs, they just want better conditions - so they don't (in general) call for people to boycott the companies they work for. The one thing worse than being exploited is not being exploited - in a world where for most people it's a choice between selling your labour or starving.
