I left both my laptop and a glass of water on the floor... (You see where this is going?) Anyway, after I panicked and tried to dry it with my hairdryer I turned it on and now the screen is all flickery and the colours are a bit weird, like, it still works but it's also just a bit fucked. Anyone know how to fix it?! Or where you can buy a waterproof laptop?

I did that with coffee recently...took all the removable bits off the comp, ie battery etc, turned it upside down and left it for 24 hours...works perfectly now, if a lil hyper at times... Not sure if hairdryer was such a good move tho...fingers crossed for you! What would happen if there was a paradigm shift in a procol harem?

Try putting it in an airing cupboard or similar. You want a nice gentle drying action.
If you have only fucked the screen you can still use an external monitor. Hope this helps I came, I saw, I concurred

A second screen - just plug a standard one in and it should be fine. If the external display doesn't work properly you may have fried your main board

My partner (who everone seems to go to with their computer woes) has suggested that you let it dry out on its own and don't use it for a day or two. He reckons it is a short on the screen that will hopefully be okay once dried out. Being a very clumsy person myself I have had a varitey of incidents with a multitude of computers/laptops and he has always managed to somehow work miracles with the debris I have left in my wake.
I hope his helps | ||

I'm glad it works OK but in general if you get water in electrical items it is best to give them a good time to dry before switching them on. Hairdryers are best on the cold setting because some components shouldn't get hot. "Red hair and black leather is my favourite colour scheme" - Richard Thompson

Sounds like you need to be soundly spanked for being careless, young lady...

Alternatively, if you have any insurance send it back to them and they will do a shite job (I sent my laptop back with vodka ice all over the keyboard and it was working but sticky as hell - hope it was the vodka ice though). However, if they don't fix it for a month or so (check all the annoying small print) then you can claim a new one!!! They won't tell you that on the phone helpline though as they have been thoroughly 'trained' not to. Bastards. C

Turn it off, let it dry out completely before turning it back on. Basic rule, most electronics isn't effected by water when it's turned off but gets fucked if turned on when wet. I don't know what's right and what's real any more |
