Do you, like me, have hundreds of old video tapes still floating around indoors? Do you ever still watch them?
I have a couple of hundred kids films and nearly the entire Disney back catalogue on video, which I have been loathe to get rid of, even though no one ever watches them. I can't decide what to do with them. I still have a working video machine so it's possible to keep them and use them, but they take up so much space.
Did you throw all yours out or are they collecting dust like mine?

I got the entire series of Edge of Darkness on video for 25p last week I can't see the need to throw out old technology as they're will always be a next big thing to make current technology obsolete Case in point, everyone rushes to by HD tellys then as soon as the majority have them, they bring out 3D tellys and tell you HD is so last century I haven't even got Blueray, its just looks like a stop gap until either streaming movies take off or the multi terrabyte disc players come down in price and become a something for mainstream media

I'm not fussed particularly either, it's more of a case of no one watches them anymore as the kids have grown out of them and don't watch them. I don't know whether I'm holding on to them for any possible future grandchildren which is slightly barmy lol, or whether I should donate them to the local single mum centre or kids ward at the hospital. I want to have a big clear out and they are nagging at me. Next Play Party - Thursday 20th Aug 11am-3pm

I'm really short of space and have tons of stuff to get rid of. I bought one of these http://www1.conrad-uk.com/scripts/wgate/zcop_uk/...[1]=uk_insert&cookie_v[1]=8V&cookie_d[1]=&cookie_p [1]=%2f&cookie_e[1]=Wed%2c+16-Sep-2009+12%3a10%3a24 +GMT&scrwidth=1024
and I'm copying the important video to my pc so I can pass the tapes on to charity shops or Freecycle. Works a treat. I'm doing the same with all my old audio cassettes, vinyl and photos too. It is tough getting rid of some things but in the end I hope to have all my photos music and video in one little box and lots of space to run around waving my arms about. -------------------

I have converted most of my (wanted ) video collection to dvd for posterity. Also I have done conversions from cine film to dvd. Currently doing cassette tapes to cd for 2 people then I can get back to my vynyl collection and converting that to cd. There is a fine line between sanity and insanity. I have a foot firmly planted either side of that line

Got rid of all my video tapes and the player too. Gary x. Everyone who lives dies, but not everyone who dies has truly lived.

I can't get rid of my video player as I have a tape containing my one and only appearance on telly when I appeared in the background of a scene in ' Home and Away' wearing my Brentford FC footie shirt. That is the only reason it stays, except for an episode of Dawson's Creek taped after it.

Then get it converted to dvd asap then you can get rid of the video and player. There is a fine line between sanity and insanity. I have a foot firmly planted either side of that line

I probably have a hundred or so,not much use since my last VCR brokedown. The DVD recorder I bought 2 years ago is still in it's box.
Perhaps it's time to chuck the tapes,or give them to a charity shop.Without a VCR,I can't even transfer them to DVD.But like the tapes, they'd rarely be watched. Thank you Mistress. |
