I keep seeing the words 'mob' 'gang' 'clique' bandied about here.
However, it always seems to be people who write dumb things that end up squealing 'MOB!!!' only because more than one person disagrees with them.
Christ, if I wrote a blog and no one responded to it at all, should I start yelling 'I'm being picked on by the mob!!! The bastards are ignoring me again!!!'
Has it occurred to you that, maybe, just maybe, somethings are wrong? And that by pointing out the wrongness, the questioner might actually learn something to their advantage? That disagreeing with someone isn't attacking them?
And maybe, just maybe, on a site that invites people of similar interests, they might agree on things other than the best way to stick a dildo in your ear?

It's because those words are bandied about so much that I don't post as much as I'd like to. I always worry that if I post in agreement to someone then it will look like I'm an arse-licker or trying to get into someones 'circle' I've always been a bit of an outsider, so when I can find someone that shares my view I feel really happy and want to express that. I can't so much anymore though, and feel I have to space out 'agreeing' over periods of time so that I don't get paranoid about patterns. I've been bullied by mobs and cliques so I do everything I can to never appear as one of those people. I can't see any group on IC that resembles the shits I've encountered. In the OT days then maybe yes, but now, no. I just feel that bandying those words around stifles expression and debate -- it's more of a 'I'm not doing very well here...help! gang!' card to play than a genuine cry for help that they're being bullied. ...sorry about the rant on your blog, just felt that I was able to share a view without restriction for a change. Threads are like skirts. They should be long enough to cover the interesting details, but short enough to keep things interesting. | ||
