I've had 2 metres of black latex lying around for years, but never got around to making something out of it (mainly because I thought I could never get hold of the thinner to clean the latex before glueing it together)
Anyway, I have the book 'Making Latex Clothes', but I can't get the thinner and glue they recommend. I found a website that suggested rubber cement and white spirit for the glueing process. I bought the rubber cement, but couldn't find white spirit anywhere (pharmacy & supermarket...) - I bought methylated spirit instead.
Now I'm no chemist and I'm not sure if the whole thing won't explode when I use the methylated spirit for cleaning the latex and then the rubber cement on it?
Funny exchange in the pharmacy:
Pharmacist: what do you need the white spirit for?
Me: I need it to clean latex for glueing it together, to make latex clothes
Pharmacist: errrrrrrrrrr aha. *looks at me sceptically*

I've no experience of making latex clothing, but you can buy white spirit in D.I.Y shops. ETA link: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=t... judy I must be only one in a million (© David Bowie) Edited 8 Aug 09, 12:04 PM by JudyInDsGuise

But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and I won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I'm sure you have a good reason to quit" L.Armstrong

White spirit is used for cleaning gloss paint from paintbrushes, so if you want some just pop down to any DIY store or decorators outlets, it should be quite cheap. Meths is something different, dunno if it will work properly, but you might want to do a test patch first.
