Hi all just a reminder that the dungeon club will NOT be taking place this month (today) due to the loss of the venue. However, we may have a venue for next month, but on the friday of the bbb & unleashed weekend. this would be an ongoing date and not just a one off. unfortunately, securing a saturday night for the club is always the most difficult night to get, and i would be interested to hear from people that have come to, or are thinking about coming to the club to find out what the thoughts are on changing the weeknight and weekend that the club runs on. Also, we have a new venue for Unleashed, and as it is not close to the bbb (but its not that far either, 14 miles or 20mins drive) we are going to break the affiliation with the bbb and remove ourselves as the official bbb afterparty. Unleashed will now become something a bit different to what it has been, and more along the lines of what i hoped it would be at DV8, but couldn't be due to licensing restrictions. more details and info on the venue etc will be posted soon. Again, comments are invited as to what you would like at Unleashed, and that includes changes to the rules (some of which will be changing anyway). I would be extremely interested to find out what people would prefer the opening and closing times to be for Unleashed. so thats the latest news folks.....keep an eye on the forums for more info as i get it. Fridays are Ok although people do like Saturday events as it gives more time to travel etc. if coming from a distance, is the dungeon to be the same venue as unleashed and 14 miles in what direction, because for some this could add more time on to a journey, others less, which could affect decisions. Whatever though good luck. C&Y nilocb

hi nilocb, thanks for the input. yes the venue would be the same for both clubs, but the layout and feel of the venue would be changed around between the 2 nights. a Saturday is always the preferred night, but sometimes you have to go with what you can get, and in this case thats a Friday. now, if the numbers are good enough on the Fridays, that gives more chance of getting things moved to the Saturday. this is the reason for the questions about opening & closing times. if people have to travel, they may like the club to start later (or the same time) and end later so that they have time to enjoy things. the venue would be in the walsal area, between j9 & j10 on the m6, so its nice and close to main arterial routes. Friday nights for the Dungeon will clash with Ceasars and I think some of the same players attend both venues. Could be tricky??? Have not yet been to the Dungeon, but would like to. My partner and me regularly attend Ceasars. Choices, choices.... On the other hand, Unleashed can be anywhere you like so long as we can get there. BBB is great, but I don't really want to attend every event. Cheers Afterdark Afterdark

fridays mean i will probably not make it very often, and the location means i will be hard pushed to get there. i wont be able to do sundays because of getting home. i hope that you can settle in the new venue, and that the clubs go from strength to strength lara this is not a dress rehearsal. you get one life ... live it.

So would I be right in thinking this new venue is going to be difficult to get to by pubblic transport. One of the big positives of the timing and location of unleashed was that it could not only be got to by public transport but one could also get home by public transport. If you don't like what you see, what you read, then just move along. Life is too short to waste it arguing about the little things.

a quick check on transport in the walsall area shows 4 rail links (2 on sunday) 103 bus services, and 5 coach services. details of the services would need to be checked by people attending the events. i agree that the location was great for people attending the bbb, but unfortunately, not enough people were coming over after the bbb, or just coming along for unleashed, to keep it going in DV8. i have tried for a year to get the numbers up, but if people dont want to come along i cant force them to. the only choices left were close the club down, or try to continue in a smaller venue, with less overheads, and see how it goes. so were going to give it a go, and with peoples support, hopefully it will be a success. Are you looking at making it a late afternoon/early evening event so that these public services might possibly be useable. Late Sunday evening public transport varies from very poor to non existant. thats the reason for the questions in the op. i want to find out what peoples feelings are on the times that the clubs should be open. open early & close early, open early & close late, or open late & close later. He meddled with things man was meant to leave alone. |
