Yes, well done that chap in the old "K" reg Merc, who decided that overtaking me *and* the bus I'd flashed to pull out was such a good idea. Well done for only narrowly avoiding the oncoming car, causing it and the bus to swerve amidst a cacophony of beeping.
After the bus pulled in again, I followed you all the way to the trafiic lights, in traffic crawling along bumper to bumper.
Narrowly avoiding a head-on collision and causing an RTA was well worth getting a car length ahead, only to be overtaken again by me in the left hand filter lane at the lights.
But, go you. You're obviously a real go-getter. Twat.

Each morning and evening I drive a 20 minute commute along rural roads through several villages. I stick to the speed limit, most do not, so on each journey about 2-3 cars typically overtake me. Almost all of them end up immediately in front of me as I turn into work or my driveway at home. The accident rate along the road is pretty high, needless to say. - Chris

I have a car but have not driven for over three years now because I hate driving, so it just sits on the drive of my house. The roads are now full of idiots and maniacs and its only going to get worse. I am happy to use public transport and walk again, and i'm glad I don't need to drive anymore. Even as a pedestrian i'm not safe, trying to cross a road without any pedestrian crossing can be like taking my life in my hands. Some drivers when they see me crossing the road aim their vehicle at me, and its a case of me getting out of the road fast or get knocked down. Also its the private motorist that is clogging the roads with traffic, you know, one person and one vehicle, and its the same people that complain about the amount of vehicles on the roads. It is these people that are clogging the roads with traffic in the first place.

Agreed!. It is very annoying though when you get overtook and the person gets as far as one car/bike length away from you. Was it worth risking it for the sake of a small distance? I would say no.

Yes..surprising how many vehicles over take when chugging along at the speed limit, on for me to catch them up & often overtake them again at junctions, roundabouts etc!!!
Also wonder at times when going through roadworks covered by average speed camera's on the motorway, why i'm not one of the few motorists still left on the road, as whilst i stick to the limits, most folk are flying past me...is this course they know something i don't, i.e that no one gets nicked by such camera's or maybe most folk don't know what average speed means...hence many of them braking before each set of cam's

Why not? There's bound to be a person near you without a car or looking to carpool who works near you. Or use public transport if possible and the car isn't necessary? “During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act” - George Orwell

Don't what's happened but the driving in this country has gotten really bad the last 15 years, just seems to get worse every year. Ive got to drive 9 hours a day for work, and the amount of near misses i see everyday is scary. Ive been involved in three collisions this year so far with other cars, twice on my motorbike both times getting cut up on a roundabout, luckily never came off or any real damage. Once in a truck where i was in a convoy of traffic and someone decides to overtake when there is on coming vehicles and ends up cutting in and smashing into the front of my truck. Luckily for the car driver he just spun off the road and wasn't hurt seriously. Just heard on another forum i'm on, one of the regulars was involved in a similar accident yesterday but this time the car driver wasn't so lucky and was killed. Even though it wasn't his fault and there was nothing he could do he feels so fucked up about the whole thing and it's a feeling which will never go away. Its nuts the risks people take to get home a few minutes earlier.

know what you mean. It's usually BMW drivers who do these tricks. Seems that to drive German is to think German. "Gentelmen. We must secure Ze dual carriageway in the name of the Rhieneland" Unfortunately, we are all susceptible to a spot of road rage from time to time. Usually the muppet in the Merc at the back of you on the M6 at eleven at night who decides that your 80 mph or above is not enough and they obviously have had their clearance from the tower for take off. And lastly, you cannot go around calling them a twat. A twat is useful and you can get some pleasure out of a twat if you think about it.
