Well, now it's over and done with, the famous (?) Ishmaels's 45th Birthday Bash at the Barnet Bastille.
I managed to make the trip from the sunny Kent Coast to be there and it was nice to see some old faces from years ago in the days of derPutsch, and some more recent friends from IC, especially vindabona, Ashlea and Jason, Ishmael's lady, Ginny and a few more.
A splendid time was had by all with plenty of activity going on and nibbles too. Ishmael gavae a quick live documentary as to how he became to be on the scene from the tender age of twenty something with his leather gear going to Atomage, then the 1987 Boat Party where we first met, then via a few other clubs to today. Alld elivered in his own inimitable dramatic style.
The Barnet Bastille is a new correctional facility on a seedy shanty town type trading estate just off the A1000 at Barnet. It's still being worked on at the moment, but the facilities there will be good once work is complete. The seediness reminds me of some of the venues we used to go to in the early days of the scene in London int the 1980's.
I'm sure Ish enjoyed himself, especially the 45 of the bestadministered by a lady whose name I forget. Silly me.
