I know that there are no rules for blogging, and that it is up to the individual who writes the blog to decide how to administer the responses. I know all of this.
But...
I have to say that it bugs me massively when someone writes a ranty blog with some very provocative and arguable points, and then decides that they will not allow replies to be visible until they have vetted them.
If the blog was on a sensitive topic, that could give rise to some of the many fools on here making less than pleasant replies, I would understand why replies would be vetted.
But to have a rant, and then not allow replies to show straight away, well, it smacks of censorship, cowardice and arrogance. And control freakery. In my opinion, obviously...

I have done this once or twice, but not puposely. After i have blogged i'm never sure how to go back and change settings. Although one of my blogs was directed at one person, and therefore replies disabled to put an end to it.
I actually don't like vetting replies, its censorship being judged by me... i dont want to judge, its a free world do and say as you want, people can disagree, cut you with words BUT they can't kill you

I once ranted about the same thing, and forgot to enable replies.

Yeah, I made sure to check my settings before I blogged... I have often not enabled replies accidently...never managed to enable them and hide them though... The easy part of life is playing by the rules. The fucking hard bit is working out what the rules are.

If i feel REALLY strongly about a blog i have read and they have the replies hidden then i would start a blog of my own to reply to them or i would send them a memo. I have yet to feel that strongly though... Im so fucking fabulous, i piss glitter.

If you can't amend the settings, you could always copy paste it and delete the original.

In mine too. I don't mind people not allowing replies, but hate it when they hide them. Gary Everyone who lives dies, but not everyone who dies has truly lived. |
