i really can't believe how fookin' silly i can be sometimes.
Started work at 11pm last night, i only had a few hours notice so, instead of my usual routine to switch from days to nights, all i could muster was a couple of hours kip yesterday afternoon. i was pleased when my boss gave me the news that i would be finishing at 9am instead of 11pm (my norm is a 12 hour shift), almost as happy as i was when he also gave me a wireless broadband dongle free, alreay loaded with credit (so it's thanks to him i can write this blog). So, 9am came and i made my way to the bus station to book my ticket, taking my laptop and book with me but leaving my other bag with my high vis jacket, work gloves, safety goggles and cable ties. On arriving at the bus station i found out the next bus was fully booked so booked my ticket on the 1030 bus and went to wander round Aberdeen High St for a while until it was time to depart. 40 mins window shopping later (my only purchase being a box of Nettle Tea), i headed back to the bus stop and clambered on the bus, in my zombielike state. i managed to stay awake for the whole journey, closing my eyes just a couple of times on the way home. Arriving in Dundee i made my way to the stop where i get the bus to my flat, didn't wait long and found myself walking towards my flat. It was only as i approached the front door, which requires an electronic fob to open it, i realised my keys were, in fact, in my other bag which is still up in Aberdeen. i was so tired that i couldn't remember if i had locked the door, so i waited till someone else went in and, after a long wait for the elevator (i normally take the stairs but was scared of falling asleep before i reached the 9th floor). However, when i arrived at my flat door, i realised i had been all too sensible last night and locked the door. So i'm currently sitting out in the stairwell of my block, laptop on my knee writing this blog. i've tried all the people i feel comfortable asking if i can crash at theirs for a while and make use of a bath or shower, however everybody's either working, out of town or unreachable (either working or sleeping after nightshift). A sage Friend suggested i go to a B&B, sound advice had i not already spent the last of my money on bus tickets to get to and from work tonight, i can't get more money until my Manager gets back from Glasgow, the company owes me taxi fares and petrol money but he won't be back till after the 1925 bus i'll be on heading back to Aberdeen.
Oh what a pickle!!!
Looks like i'll be doing my 12 hour nightshift tonight fuelled on Coffee, Caffeine Tablets, Energy Drinks and Sugar, hoping i don't fall asleep on the bus back and wake up in Glasgow or Edinburgh!
