Saturday was the first of our evening parties at our new venue. I'm the sort of person who tends to dwell on the negative and in the past, some of our evening play parties weren't too well attended. As we started to make preparations, I feared that too few people might turn up, but as the day approached, I was feeling very positive, because the numbers on the list were looking excellent.
Not only were the numbers good, but the people were a particularly lovely bunch and come they day, they did us proud. We lost a few due to swine flu, circumstances changed for one or two others and there was a huge jam on the M25 which delayed some and caused others to call off, but nearly everybody who didn't turn up took the trouble to let us know, which is greatly appreciated.
When we arrived ( late ) at the venue, Celtic Knot were already there and rehearsing what they were intending to do. Now that's what I call professional ! When the time came for them to do their workshop, the double pentagram tie that they had devised worked very well indeed and all the guests managed to replicate it, as they did the karada body harness afterwards.
There's something really pleasing about seeing so many people stood around tying each other up with huge grins on their faces.
During the party itself, the numbers gradually built as expected and we were thrilled to see new faces and old friends returning. Celtic Knot stayed on for several hours, despite having a long journey home. They played for much of the time as did so many of the guests too.
The venue was everything we hoped it would be and more. The owner and staff were brilliant and very helpful indeed. We had felt that a large venue with a number of smaller rooms might make the action appear to be too spread out, so we removed all the equipment from one medium sized room and transferred it into the large main room. The intention was to make it look busier in that main room, but there was no need. Our parties attract real players and they soon spread themselves out, using everything that was available, including that virtually empty room. At one time Ann was looking for somewhere to take a young guy for some CBT and had no joy at any of the likely places, because everything seemed to be in use at that point.
Eve, the house Domme was kept busy throughout the evening and we very much look forward to seeing her return next month. Similarly Tommy, our house slave was kept on his toes too and contributed much to the success of the party. There was also a delightful young subbie who was very keen to be kept occupied all evening long and she was the focus of a lot of attention from some really nice guys who seemed delighted to have the opportunity to play with her.
Feedback from guests was 100% positive. They loved the venue and appreciated how helpful the staff were and the quality and quantity of the facilities available. As always, Ann's buffet was greatly appreciated. We know that some of the guests will be with us from well before 18:00, right through to 02:00, so they're going to want some decent refreshment. We try to do it well and some people are surprised to discover that it's free of charge and very good too. Much of it fresh wholesome stuff from local suppliers near our homes and with a good selection of home made treats too.
We don't insist on a mandatory dress code, but always appreciate people turning up dressed for the occasion. The majority of the party guests dressed in fetish styles and looked truly stunning. It greatly added to the atmosphere to find so many different styles of kinky clothing wherever you looked.
Another unusual aspect of our parties is that we don't have music. There's a little bit of background music while guests arrive prior to the workshop, but then it goes off and stays off. We prefer the rhythm of leather and wood on flesh, the chorus of laughter and the hum of chatter between friends. People come to play and chat and we don't want anything to intrude.
We've now been running our parties for nearly three years and on many occasions, shortly after a great party, I've declared that our parties simply couldn't get any better. This time, I feel quite differently. I now have no doubt that our parties will be getting better. We got off to a brilliant start, but can see how things are likely to happen in the future and that future is a very bright one.
As I said, I tend to be the pessimist, but at one point during the party, I found myself looking around at that lovely huge venue, with so many people doing their thing and I started thinking about how these parties might develop. I came to the realisation that there may come a point in the near future where we will have to limit numbers. Fortunately that number will be quite large, but it's an extraordinary turnaround to start off a week or two ago wondering if we will attract enough guests to make it viable and then during the party to be pondering how to keep numbers within sensible limits.
Many thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the party. Above all, it was the wonderful guests that made it work so well. We do hope to see you all again soon and look forward to making more new friends too.

I found it refreshing not to have thumpy music, I can never hear anyone whens theres background noise so it makes socialising awkward usually

We certainly had a much better time this time, thank you - the effort was much appreciated! I may be able to make Wednesday, but I'm waiting on finding my shifts out on Thursday... I hope I can since I forgot to pick up the stuff from Rachel! | ||
