I have been lucky enough to see that yes, all my preconceptions about gay play being unwelcome in 'straight' play clubs have been completely unfounded, and were based on my own assumptions and judgements.

However, I know that this exact preconception is held widely amongst the gay Sm population and as such, I am proud to be part of a club, that is advertising as a straight-friendly gay club, rather than a gay-friendly straight club. Its a subtle difference to those that are not affected by these concerns, by I assure you it has made a big difference to people that were hesitant about coming. And in fact sadly, some of the old SM dyke community that I lived in still find the 'straight-friendly' part of the club do their disliking.

Their loss is our gain, and I truly believe that nearly everyone that came to the club came in the right spirit, if they didn't, they saw what the club is, and what we wont ever apologise for it being, and as such they may not come back. But it was enough of a success and I believe enough people truly enjoyed the mixed atmosphere that our numbers wil continue to grow.

And on a personal note, I would like to thank ropetop and MC for letting me be a part of team surrender. I am very proud to be. leaving the gay scene and having a relationship with a man has left me feeling completely lost as to where I belong... I still totally think of myself as a 'feisty little dyke ' and I love the fact that surrender has given me a place, where despite being with my boyfriend, people will still see me that way.
