Don't you mean 'Ring of Fire'?
Either way, it could still be appropriate. It's like trying to herd lolcats!

Yeah it's a cover version (Originally by Trent Raznor (Spelling) From NIN) But when Trent heard Cash's version he was blown away... I love that song. I have a few of Cash's songs on my Ipod. I Love Hurt, One piece at a time, Folsom Prison Blues, and Satisfied mind.... But he just has such a wonderful voice. Danke Schoen, darling Danke Schoen. Thank you for all the joy and pain.

It's not often a cover blows away the original, infact the only other song i know of that has done that is josé gonzalez's cover of 'Heartbeats' by the Knife (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4_4abCWw-w ) The thing about hurt, is that cash covered that song so well he made it his own, sadly it has made trent's version look quite mediocre (in my opinion) compared to the cover, and has made his creation hit a much wider audience than trent probably expected. You mention the song hurt, and people think of johnny cash, because he made it his own, and what a wonderful cover it is.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak - I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me, - there was no one to speak for me

"All Along the Watchtower" is the one that sticks in my mind. Supposedly after Dylan heard Hendrix cover it he said "Man.....THAT'S how it's meant to be done", and played it in Hendrix's style ever afterwards, which is why both versions sound very similar unless you track down an early Dylan recording of the song. Cash's cover of Hurt is superb, and far superior to the original - although it's a shame he changed the line "I wear my crown of shit", I always liked that lyric... In fact, by having a couple of great tunes, the man in black get's a bye on the usual "there shall be no country music played within these walls" rule.
