It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of Heather - "Calluna" who died peacefully in her sleep from heart failure early yesterday morning while on holiday in the Forest of Dean with her partner Andi.
Many of you will not have known her - those that do will be part of the pioneering crowd who were going to munches and events many years ago and who saw the birth of this website and other cornerstones of our community.
Those of you who live in the Kent area may know her from Kinky Kent and other local munches and events.
A mutual friend said yesterday "She was always the first to say hello" - now it is our turn to say goodbye.
Our thoughts are with Andi and her family at this time.

Very sad indeed. I am feeling that 2009 is not a good year for another loss of "the old crowd" calluna was one of the first people I met on the scene, at the pre bridge munch and again at "The Bridge" and she made me feel very welcome, I found her to be friendly and fun, with that sparkle in her eye and a playful cheeky streak but respectfully so. My thoughts are with Andi, her family and those present and past who were a part of her life. mynx^B^ (and Badg1) "Dear Santa ........ I can explain!"

Indeed, 2009 is shaping up to be a bad year for losses. It's been an awful long time since I saw calluna, probably chatted more on IRC than in real life, but I do remember her fondly. <shrug> very sad.... <shakes head> Jj

Sofia: I got the message about this just as I woke up, before going to work, and although I have net seen - nor spoken to - calluna for a couple of years she had always struck me of one of those people who will always be around. Her kindness, her smile, her good heart... My first memory of calluna is actually from your place, Dems. It was around noon, or slightly before, a Saturday morning. Your place was booming with people, though most asleep, you were throwing a party. Calluna was not asleep - she was running in and out of the kitchen, tidying and cleaning. A right busy little bee... then she saw me, and the person I came with, and her face was lit up by this smile and she came out to welcome us... That smile is what I will carry with me. My thoughts, and my heart go out to her family and those who were close to her. Moony here! She was one of the first people I met at the White Horse munches, and she was certainly among the most memorable of all of those who attended them. I find it hard to believe that someone who was so ALIVE can be gone. It's very sad. Moony & Sofia

Very sad news. I also remember Heather from the White Horse munches, and MsDemmies excellent parties. She was indeed, always the first to say hello and smile. In a lot of ways the scene could do with more "callunas" as that friendly attitude is sadly lacking now. It's a shame we'd lost touch and even more of a shame that this news means we can never rectify that. There are a lot of people who were around at the same time that I also wish I still knew. Safe journey Heather.. go with love and respect my friend xx Love, trust and honesty are the strengths that bind.

From me too - sincere condolences.
A very genuine, friendly person.
The days of IRC and The White House are so long ago now. It never hurts, it only tingles (yeah right!)

I feel the same. I first met Heather many years ago when she visited a club here in Manchester. And, as already mentioned, I found her to be a friendly chatty soul. She was someone who I bumped in to from time to time, online and in r/l. I always liked her and feel sorry that Yorkshire is missing another good person today. My commiserations to her family. I'm sure she will be sorely missed. Bev x "They must find it difficult...Those who have taken authority as the truth, rather than the truth as the authority." G.Massey, Egyptologist.
