Well it has been an interesting week, what with the court case verdict and moving house. Moving house was as nearly as stressful as giving evidence in court, I was initially in two minds about staying in Birmingham for the second day of the trial to watch the other people give evidence, which looking back on I am glad I didn't. Not because I would have had to have watch him give evidence but because of the mess that surrounded trying to move house.
So anyhow, I ended up finishing my packing on Tuesday last week and was all ready to move on Wednesday. When on Wednesday I get a barrage of phone calls from the gayboy (my new flat mate) stressing out that the letting agent's have not received all the information they needed. Therefore, two hours of phone calls latter, between the letting agent (who is the most incompetent tosser in the world), the gayboy and my mother, I eventually sort out getting the keys to the new flat. Oh and in the middle of all that, I get the news the jury came back with a guilty verdict, so there were some more phone calls made but less stressful ones. Well anyhow we move in and things are nice, the flat is as good as we remember it from the viewing and we unpack the kitchen area and what not. The gayboy however goes the whole nine yards and actually unpacks everything he has and sets his room up how he wants it on the first night, me however I get the bits I need unpacked, clothes, make up and my laptop. I am still not totally unpacked, though I have the excuse that I am going back to my parents house this weekend to get some more things for the flat so until I have everything back there I want I am not going to fully unpack.
Anyhow, I thought living with a 21-year-old gay man could not be worse than last academic year and living with two 18-year-old straight boys. Oh how wrong I was, I have found out that gay men are nocturnal and he does not wake up until some point after 2pm most days. So this leaves me having to be relatively quiet most mornings when I wake up around 8 am. On the plus side he can cook, but his skills at washing up and tidying away after are lacking somewhat.
This spurred on a conversation with Miss Swoons, about starting a gay man boot camp. Where we can send gay flatmates away for 2 weeks or even a month where they learn to be better gays. Maybe this boot camp could be based upon the 1950's house type setup. Ahhh well I have 12 months or so, I am sure I can in that time train him to be a better gay and keep house nicely.
On a related note as well, gay men are shit at organisation I asked him to have had a look at ISP's before we moved in and pick one that he thought would fit us both best. Now after 1 week of being in the flat he still has not made a decision on this so I am still waiting for him to pick one so that we can get online. I am thinking he is going to need some motivation on this front, so maybe I am going to get someone to hurt in a fun way soon. So if anyone hears any screams from a gay man emanating from hulme, its nothing to worry about it's just me motivating my flatmate.
