I still stand by my original post that at that height or average height going fgrom 1 stone 6 down to 9 stone 6 or down to 8 stone 6 which is about size 10 (and is NOT skinny or underweight by the way it's just that fat posters have lost the sense of what is a normal healthy weight as the country is sinking into such obesity) is a good idea and sometimes you just need someone to say it to you. It helps. They say - no you'd look and feel much better 2 or 3 stone lighter.

I was just thinking about this as I was having a smoke in the rain. Needless to say I don't agree with Class_Act, but the thing that struck me most is the way people on IC constantly use this site as a way to say things to other people in safety, which they would never say in person. Most of the replies on the original thread were normal replies. The kind of thing people would say to that girls face. 'You look fine to me' 'I think you're hot' and perhaps 'I personally don't like the goth look, but if you are happy, power to you' etc. I don't believe Class_Act would have said what she said if we were all in a bar chatting. The difference between her response, and our response to her post is that I think it's fairly clear that we would have rounded on her in real life in pretty much the same way if she had. I respect people who keep unkind thoughts to themselves - that is not dishonesty it is TACT. People who claim to 'call a spade a spade' and those who claim to 'say what I mean, I speak my mind, at least I am honest' are trying to excuse the fact that they are blunt and rude and lacking in basic social skills. Class_Act needs to learn that whether someone might look better in her eyes if they lost weight, whether they would be healthier does not matter. The fact is that this could be 100% true, perhaps she would look better dressed as some idea of normal, and stone lighter but this does not give Class_Act the right to insult and upset someone. *breathes* My sorry name has made it to graffiti, Edited 7 Jul 09, 1:00 AM by little_belle | |

Perhaps it's because it's late and I've been writing intense emails, but I don't actually UNDERSTAND most of that last paragraph. How do you go "fgrom 1 stone 6 down to 9 stone 6"?? And for the record, who defined that size 10 is perfect? Even BMI is fallible. I'm 5ft 8 1/2, a size 12 (UK size), and yet I weigh enough that currently my BMI is firmly in the overweight category. I am fit, healthy, and happy. I have weighed less, been less fit, and been a size 18 (all at the same time). Go figure. Superfit rugby players are being refused operations because their BMI is outside the "normal" range. *goes off mumbling something about "asshat"* | |

This will no doubt get me shot down in flames, but i don't think that this is on. I said the same thing last year when someone else did this in response to a blog that didn't allow replies. We all have the right to allow replies to our blogs, or not. Enable or disable, that's the OP's choice to make.
