I would say it has more to do with getting pissed than watching Jean-Claude Van Damme. Which of course is another double standard...one substance that disinhibits, kills in its thousands, is responsible for the majority of the A and E population on a Saturday night...blah blah blah... Others that may or may not do similar things, with usually far less associated violence are, blah blah blah... I utterly take the point of the OP, but it seems to me that double standards are an integral part of modern society.

There will always be double standards whilst society insists in the belief that there is a set of standards that will magically unite us all. We need to find a value pluralist way forward and that means legislating ways we can disagree not create artificial and ultimately unworkable consensus. | ||

Agree with Ropeburn. But (re MaxBedroom) 'street-fighting vids' referred to footage of real-life on-street brutality, and not to 'van damme' type hollywood glorifications.

...of course I remember some real hard core stuff-a wife carrying baby being beaten over the head with a stick until death by her husband while a voice eggs them on telling them: "that's the way to do it!" the baby dies, and no social workers. Well none left alive.... and just don't mention the crocodile!!!! or the poor policeman!!! |
