Absolutely. It's a good result - but still a long way from ideal.

I've been wondering that from the start. Isn't the country supposed to be broke? "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win" - Gandhi

Well [insert dead sleb name of choice here] would have been somebody's son/daughter/beloved/mate and yet be cannon-fodder for assorted sick jokes and rumours. And I think that;s a *god* thing - that people can say what they want and only get prosecuted if they *do* unpleasant unconsensual things to others.

Well, I might be new to this site but on other sites I have used in the past I have had people threatening to boil me in oil, shoot me, whip me till 'I can see the bone' and all manner of other not-very-tempting offers. I tend to think of such incidents as an indication that I must be doing something right (sites being those generally haunted by redneck spoontards with their cocks in one hand and a bible in the other) - it would never have occurred to me to waste police or court time over such things. Oh, and I'm just *mildly* interested that none of you seem to think that anyone would write a lame vulgar violent story about doing stuff to a *man* ie this bloke would only have to concern himself with someone writing about rude things they would do to 'his' women...

Interesting how the "your [hypothetical] daughter/sister/etc" comes up. It reminds me of Police Chief Jim Gamble's "Do you want your daughter going out with someone who views necrophilia, extreme violence?" Shouldn't we let daughters and sisters express their own view, rather than using them to push our viewpoints? The issue isn't whether it's "okay" or not, or even whether it should be covered by some law, it's about the Obscene Publications Act, and whether works of fiction should be criminalised on the grounds that they might allegedly "deprave and corrupt". Sign the statement against criminalisation of possession "extreme" images. Petition against plans to criminalise sexual cartoons appearing to depict anyone under 18.

The right result, it's good to see some sense still remains. I hope to see The Daily Star have to shell out damages in the time to come, the hypocritical cunts. If there were two of you, which one would win?
