The Sounds of Vinyl... (4)

Understandable at the moment that Michael Jackson is being played on radio stations/tv channels and even in the bakery of Tesco's...

So, late last night I decided to dig out the vinyl, ready to play them this morning.

How sweet the sounds, those familiar crackles at the beginning as the needle delicately begins its inward spiral. No bass required - the sound is fantastically awesome as it is... Although if my upstairs neighbours go out, I might turn the bass on, and notch the volume up another level :-D

Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean etc... Next up is the BAD album… Can't wait to blast that out too.

I have a 3ft exclusion zone around my stereo. No one but me goes near it... Only under my supervision can one of the girlies use it for their cd's...

But when that beautiful vinyl is spinning...

It's all MINE!

There's something indefinably ace about vinyl 33's :-) perhaps it's because all the little hisses, crackles and defects are unique to us and our past?

When I moved house 6 years ago I treated myself to a new stereo system and found *one* with a turntable option within my price range. Still plays beautifully :-)

I can highly recommend Sly & The Family Stone's 'Fresh!' on vinyl, medium bass and volume high... if the neighbours are out!

Lip Up Phatty :-)

We threw out all our vinyl last year. I felt as though I'd been given a face lift. Still feel really good about it.

Just got back from a record fair (in which I officially could be the daughter of about everyone in the room) and the Wacko vinyl was out on mass. Glad to see that some are making a tidy profit, unlike the O2.....

I'll have to look out for that album, thanks... I do have a 12inch of theirs in my collection. It was because of the 'defect' in my past relationship that I bought my stereo in the first place... Once 'he' walked out, I treated myself ;)

oooo i can't bear to let my vinyl collection go, singles as well as albums - i even have a green vinyl version of *we're only making plans for Nigel* by XTC - Andy Partridge is God!

He was two years above me at our comprehensive and played at all our local "hops"( you'll know what that means if you are in your err mid-40's :)) with Colin Moulton( ?)

My collections bigger than yours WW ! ;)

hugs and wet ones

Sassy x

Hehe, your collection will probably be bigger than mine, still couldn't contemplate getting rid of it though. Those coloured vinyls and picture discs are really cool. I have quite a few picture ones, and a shaped Madonna one. For Christmas last year I got my daughter a couple of My Chemical Romance picture discs, and a few weeks ago we were at a boot fair and we saw 4 more, 50p each. She was well made up.

Hugs to you too Sassy
