Looks like I spoke too soon
This has been a really nice thread concerning a potentially contentious subject, with people posting their opinions reasonably. Please don't let it deteriorate now. Some people are like slinkies ... they don't really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs
Some people say I'm a bitch, that's just not true - I have the heart and soul of a kind and gentle person ... in a jar, on my desk, next to my cane.

Actually, I was referring to this section of the AUP:
"Use of the site...You may not use IC to defame, harrass, threaten or stalk other users or individuals."
And if it came to it, aspects of the YKIOK/NOK section might apply too.
Thanks for your interest.

Ah right. I didn't realise she was threatening or stalking you. Probably best to keep it off the boards in that case and/or inform Admin. I think the TS PD would be hard pushed to explain this to a very upset client. There really is no comparison at all. A natural female who used to, or still does, sub isn't going to look any different to a one who has never subbed. Either way she is female and always has been.
I do think you are quite right though in that a TS may use this example to justify her reluctance or refusal to disclose her history but if she did/does then she is quite delusional and would prove that she has no appreciation or realism about herself or her clients. But isn't the essence of this complex question not really anything to do with the PD, be they now male or female. It's about the perceptions of the client, and how they may react in the supercharged, pressure cooker environment of a dungeon? Or in the aftermath of a session in there.
Morally, I am sure no-one here would disagree that some folk profoundly believe they were born in a body of the wrong gender, and chose to do something about it - but that's not the issue.
It's how to handle the way the client might react, which might not be entirely considered or rational, might even be something they later regret. And that's why I think it's more a practical question than anything else.
I dunno, well out of the realms of my practical experience here, but there seems to be a choice. Be up front, and head the whole matter off before it arises, or not, and accept that some clients might throw a bit of a wobbler, and anticipate it best you can, and try to figure out ways to handle it?
Why poison your liver when I could eat it for you?
The antidote to whinge threads...?

This question has led me to a considerable amount of thought. In fact, I asked it of a TG friend not so long ago. I hugely respect my friend's choice to present her status when and if she sees fit but at the same time, I think a paying client's feelings and preferences should also be considered and in this case, take priority.
I think this question does have has an ethical dimension in terms of how one operates professionally and also about self disclosure in general. How transparent must a pro dom be about other aspects of their lifes that would not immediately be apparent during a session but would, had the client had the information up front, would have resulted in them not being booked?
I have known a couple of submissive males who only found out later that the pro dom they sessioned with was TG. In a few cases I have been asked if a pro dom was born female. Aware of the individual's status, this put me in the difficult position of not responding, or I would be either be forced to lie or to out the individual in question. My silence has of course spoken volumes as the usual response would be 'no, whatever made you think that?'.
The sub males in question have either not wanted to session with TGs or have had mixed feelings about their experience (mostly negative). I feel the preferences of the client should be to the fore, when they book a pro dom session. They are the ones paying, a not inconsiderable sum of money, and have many reputable doms to choose from. As it would be likely to cause offence to actually ask if the stunning woman they are contemplating serving used to be a man, I don't think the onus should be on the client to have to ask this question.
I can only imagine that a ts pro-dom or pro sub does not reveal their status that they either ardently want to feel as they would if born female. They would rather not refer to the past, which no longer has a meaning to them in terms of identity. In much the same way as a well known pro dom does not say on her site she worked exclusively as a pro sub for a number of years and married her master. Also, presumably some clients would not be looking to be advised on what makes dom woman tick by someone who used to be male or do not what to spank the naughty schoolgirl who may have been at their boys school alongside them!
I wouldn't use the word 'immoral' if a TG does choose not to reveal their status, after all legally they are not obliged to, but I would suggest that it is misguided and ill advised to conceal their history, due to the possibility of detection by the client. However, I sympathise with the difficulty of doing this when it relates to a life that may be now long behind them and which they could consider does not have a bearing on the current situation or the way they deliver a session.
In the same way that we would not say that a pro dom who chooses to sub in her private life, or also works as a pro sub needs to let a client know this, then a TG Mistress could argue that as she is today represents how she is.

An extremely well thought out and measured response.
Pro dommes often argue that he who pays the piper doesn't always call the tune - and that does depend on the individual's style of dominance and of course the client's preferences too. However, if he's going to pay for the gig, he should at least be allowed to know who's in the band!
